In this guide, we’ll walk you step-by-step through how to unlock the Flying Ability in the game Where Winds Meet, released on 14th Nov 2025.
You can fly by using any of the four flight-related Lightness Skills in the game: Meteor Flight, Thousand-Mile Flight, Fan Glider, or Wind Rider. This guide will help you unlock Meteor Flight, which becomes available after completing the Afterglow side quest in Qinghe.
Starting Location: Afterglow
You can unlock the flying ability by completing the Afterglow quest. Start the quest by speaking to a martial master disguised as a simple fisherman near Moonveil Mountain. Afterglow is part of the Jianghu Legacy section. It’s the fifth quest on the list, and you don’t need to complete any other Where Winds Meet side quests beforehand.
Afterglow Walkthrough
Travel to the lake in the Witherwilds area of Moonveil Mountain. There, you’ll find a fisherman standing by the water. Speak to him, and he will reveal his true identity as Master Qiu Yuehai.
He’ll give you a brief demonstration of Meteor Flight to experience it for the first time. After your short flight, you’ll land on a beach. Talk to Master Qiu Yuehai again, and he’ll offer you the chance to fully unlock Meteor Flight, but only if you can pass another fisherman’s challenge.
To complete the challenge, you must jump across the water using floating wine jars as platforms to reach his boat. Once you complete the floating wine jar challenge, speak with the fisherman again. Master Qiu will reward you with the Meteor Flight manual, unlocking the skill permanently.
How to Get The Afterglow Pendant in Where Winds Meet
After completing the Afterglow quest, you must first acquire the Afterglow Pendant. It is a reward for reaching Qinghe Exploration Rank 4 that unlocks flying. Check your current rank by opening the map and viewing the level indicator in the bottom-left corner.
