How to Steal in Crimson Desert

Stealing in Crimson Desert isn’t available right away. If you notice the steal option is greyed out early in the game, especially around Hernand Castle, it means you’re missing a key item required to perform illegal actions. This guide explains how to unlock the stealing ability in Crimson Desert.

Unlock Stealing

To steal in Crimson Desert, you must first equip a Mask. Without it, the steal option will remain unavailable. Masks act as your disguise and allow you to perform illegal actions like stealing items from NPCs or locations.

How to Get and Equip a Mask

You can get a mask in two main ways.

  • By defeating bandits, they have a chance to drop a mask.
  • The second option is to buy one from a special vendor, who can be found in certain locations and usually sells masks at a low cost. Below is the location of a vendor who sells masks for 10 coins.

Once you have a mask, open the equipment wheel by pressing left on the D-pad, then select the mask slot and equip it using RT or LT. After equipping the mask, the steal option will become available.

Note: While stealing, if an NPC sees you, it will trigger an alert, and you may be chased. It will also lower your reputation with that faction.
