Removing the spear from the dragon’s back in the Shackles of Fate quest can feel confusing at first, mainly because the game doesn’t clearly explain how to get onto the dragon. This guide will provide you with a clear and step-by-step breakdown to help you complete the Shackles of Fate quest smoothly.
Where the Quest Takes Place
This quest is located in Erdava within the Crimson Desert region. As you progress in the quest, the objective marker will guide you to a large bridge on top of a cannon.

Step 1: Wait for the Dragon
Once you reach the bridge, you need to wait for the dragon to fly underneath it. The dragon follows a looped path, flying around the mountain and passing under the bridge roughly every 5 to 10 minutes.

If you miss your jump, don’t worry. Simply climb back up to the top of the bridge, use the wait function to fast-forward time, and then try again when the dragon returns on its loop.
Step 2: Jump Onto the Dragon
As the dragon approaches the bridge. Position yourself near the edge of the bridge and prepare in advance. You need to jump slightly earlier, before the dragon is directly beneath the bridge, so that your fall lines up perfectly with its back.

You don’t need to press any special buttons to grab on. If you land close to the spear embedded in its back, your character will automatically latch onto the dragon.
Step 3: Hold On Using Resist
Once you’re on the dragon, it will start flying aggressively with sudden spins and sharp movements. When this happens, hold the “Resist” button to avoid being thrown off. Keep in mind that Resist uses stamina, so only use it during those unstable moments. As soon as the dragon starts flying normally again, release the button to conserve your stamina.
Step 4: Wait for the Prompt
Stay on the dragon’s back until a tutorial prompt appears. This will introduce Focused Force Palm, which is required to remove the spear.

Step 5: Use Focused Force Palm
Once the prompt appears, enter Focus Mode and hold the Force Palm ability. Aim carefully at the glowing orb near the spear in the dragon’s neck, and wait until it turns yellow. As soon as it does, release the ability to strike and break the spear. If done correctly, this will trigger a cutscene and successfully remove the spear.
