Crimson Desert: How To Get The Rune Walker Shield | Hernand Quest Guide

A lot of players finish the “Fading Seal” quest in Hernand, defeat the boss, and walk away without ever picking up one of the cool shields in the game as a reward. That is because the game does not hand it to you when the quest ends. Instead, the reward shows up in a completely different location. Here is everything you need to know, from starting the quest to grabbing the “The Rune Walker” shield in the game.

Where To Find The Quest

Head to the bottom left of the map to the Kharons Lake region, near the Scholastone Institute. Head to the location marked on the map, and speak to him. He will ask you to find four barrier stones and restore a structure in the area.

Finding All Four Barrier Stones

As the quest starts, he will mark the locations of all 4 four barrier stones on the map.

Barrier Stone 1

Head to the location marked on the map. The first stone is hidden at the bottom of a well. Jump down into a secret chamber where the first pillar piece is located. To collect the pillar piece, make sure you have a Kuko Pot in your inventory. Then use Axiom Hand to grab the pillar and press the seal button to store it inside the pot.

Barrier Stone 2

Make your way to a cave and head inside it. Grab the pillar piece and seal it in the Kuko Pot.

Barrier Stone 3

Head to the third location. Use the Focus skill and hold your Force Palm button, then aim at the circle that appears. When it lights up yellow, release the Force Palm to break the abyss cell to clear the path. Once inside, you will notice the pillar is chained, and you need to use the light attack and heavy attack at the same time to charge an attack and break the chains. Once the chains are gone, use your Axiom Hand to grab it and seal it.

Barrier Stone 4

Approach the fourth location on the roadside. It leads into a cave at the bottom of a mountain, where you will find the barrier stone and the fourth pillar piece.

Restoring The Barrier Stones

Head back to the ruined structure at Kharons Lake. Open your inventory, go into the kuko Pot, and take out each piece one by one.

Attach the piece to its matching pillar around the structure. Use your Axiom Hand to line the piece up above the broken pillar. Then climb on top and Force Palm it downward to lock it into place. Do this for all four pieces, and the structure will be fully restored.

The Boss Fight

Once all four barrier stones are in place, a boss fight will begin.

Where To Collect The Rune Walker Shield

Here is the part most players miss. After defeating the boss, the game does not give you the shield directly. Instead, you need to travel to the equipment shop in the nearby town. Once you arrive, look for an item with an exclamation mark above it. That is the Rune Walker Shield.

What Does The Rune Walker Shield Do?

The Rune Walker Shield comes with a special ability called Runic Retribution. Each time an enemy lands a melee hit on you, the shield builds up a charge. After taking three hits, you can press your special attack button to fire off blue energy beams at nearby enemies. The shield can hold up to three charges at once, which you can see displayed above your health bar.
