Test of Faith is one of the final hurdles you must overcome to earn Diego’s trust and prove that you’re worthy of joining the Old Camp in Gothic 1 Remake. This guide will show you how to start the quest, reach Ian safely, and obtain the supply list for the quest Test of Faith in Gothic 1 Remake.
Stating Location
To start the Test of Faith quest in Gothic 1 Remake, speak with Diego in the Old Camp after you’ve increased your reputation within the camp. He’ll ask you to travel to the Old Mine and obtain the latest supply list from Ian. Before setting out, however, make sure you go through all of Diego’s dialogue options and ask him about the situation at the mine.
Continue the conversation until Diego mentions: “The crawlers look mighty hungry.” This dialogue option is extremely important. If you leave for the Old Mine without unlocking this line, Ian will refuse to hand over the supply list.
Get the Map from Graham
Head to Graham, the Old Camp’s mapmaker. You can find him near the northern gate, standing with a small group of people in front of the castle entrance. Speak with him and ask about the Map of the Colony, and purchase the map.
Travel to the Old Mine
After obtaining the Map of the Colony, open it to locate the Old Mine, which lies northwest of the Old Camp on the opposite side of the river. Leave the Old Camp through the northern wooden gate and cross the wooden bridge just outside.
From there, turn left and follow the path leading toward the mine. The route is relatively straightforward, although you may encounter a few enemies along the way.
Find Ian in the Old Mine
Once inside the Old Mine, continue following the mine tracks deeper into the tunnels. As you make your way through the mining complex, you’ll eventually reach a wooden bridge. Rather than crossing it, turn to the right and use the nearby ladder to descend to the lower level of the mine.
From there, keep moving downward by following the series of wooden ramps and platforms that wind through the workers’ settlement area. Continue descending toward the lowest level of the mine, sticking to the main path as it leads deeper underground.
Eventually, you’ll come across Ian near a table, where you can finally speak to him about obtaining the supply list.
Get the Supply List
Select the dialogue option “The crawlers look mighty hungry.” This lets Ian know that Diego sent you and that the situation at the mine is serious. Ian will then give you the supply list.
Return to Diego
Return to the Old Camp and give Ian’s supply list to Diego. If Diego isn’t there, sleep until the next morning and speak with him to complete the Test of Faith quest.
