The Ice light saber is one of the coolest weapons, introduced in the latest World of Warcraft: Midnight update. This guide explains every step required to unlock the Iceguardian’s Sleetswords in World of Warcraft: Midnight.
Requirements
Before you begin, make sure you meet the following requirements:
- Travel to the Val region.
- Set your game to Heroic World Tier.
- Be prepared to defeat rare enemies or a world boss.
- Complete the challenge before your buff expires.
Step 1: Visit Sleetrune Hollow
Head to Sleetrune Hollow, located in the southeastern part of the Val region. Enter the cave and continue all the way to the back until you find a mysterious sword embedded in a block of ice.
Interact with it and select Attempt to Pull from the Ice.
Although you won’t be able to claim the weapon immediately, you’ll receive a temporary buff called Testament, which challenges you to prove your worth by defeating powerful foes.
Step 2: Wait for a Rare Spawn
Before activating the sword, it’s recommended to wait until a rare enemy is about to spawn. This gives you enough time to complete the challenge before your buff expires.
Each newly spawned rare remains protected for approximately three minutes before players can attack it. Activate the Testament buff just before the rare becomes available.
Step 3: Earn the Vanquishing Buff
To prove yourself worthy, you must earn two stacks of the Vanquishing buff.
You can do this in one of two ways:
- Defeat two rare enemies, or
- Defeat one rare enemy and one world boss.
After defeating your first rare, you’ll receive the Vanquishing buff, which lasts for 30 minutes. Before this timer expires, earn a second stack by defeating another qualifying enemy.
Step 4: Defeat the World Boss (Optional)
If another rare won’t spawn in time, the world boss offers a faster alternative. Travel through the nearby portal to the world boss arena and defeat Imperator Thok.
A quick way to find a group is to:
- Open the Group Finder.
- Select Premade Groups.
- Choose Custom.
- Search for Imperator Thok.
- Join an existing group and defeat the boss.
Even if you’ve already defeated the boss for the week, it still counts toward this challenge.
Step 5: Return to the Sword
Once you have two stacks of Vanquishing, your Testament buff will update, confirming that you have proven yourself worthy.
Immediately return to Sleetrune Hollow before the buff expires. Interact with the frozen sword again and choose Attempt to Pull from the Ice. This time, you’ll successfully obtain the Iceguardian’s Sleetswords.
