How to Get the Battery Charger in Subnautica: Below Zero

Running out of battery power is a common problem in Subnautica: Below Zero. Instead of constantly crafting new batteries for your tools, you can unlock the Battery Charger, allowing you to recharge used batteries and save valuable resources. This guide shows you exactly where to find the Battery Charger fragments and how to unlock the blueprint.

Why You Need the Battery Charger

The Battery Charger is one of the most useful early-game upgrades because it allows you to:

  • Recharge depleted batteries.
  • Save Copper Ore and Ribbon Plants.
  • Keep essential tools powered for longer.
  • Reduce the need to craft replacement batteries.

Once built, you can simply insert empty batteries and recharge them for future use.

Battery Charger Fragment Location

The Battery Charger fragments are located inside the Old Habitat, which you’ll naturally visit during the early story.

Step 1: Travel North from Your Lifepod

From your starting Lifepod, head directly north. Continue for approximately 350 meters until you reach an area filled with large jellyfish-like creatures. Just beyond them, you’ll find the Old Habitat.

Step 2: Enter the Habitat

Swim down toward the right side of the habitat. Look for an opening leading inside. Once inside, head through the entrance and immediately turn toward the ladder on your right. Climb the ladder to reach the upper section of the habitat.

Step 3: Scan the First Battery Charger Fragment

At the top, you’ll notice a room containing story-related audio. Before interacting with anything else, turn to the right. Here you’ll find the first Battery Charger fragment. Scan it to unlock 50% of the blueprint.

Step 4: Find the Second Fragment

Return to the lower level. Instead of leaving the habitat, continue through the nearby underwater corridor. You’ll notice an oxygen tank releasing bubbles, allowing you to replenish your oxygen before continuing. Follow the corridor until you reach another room.

The second Battery Charger fragment is located on the right side. Scan it to complete the blueprint.

Battery Charger Blueprint Unlocked

After scanning both fragments, you’ll unlock the Battery Charger blueprint. You can now build it using the Habitat Builder once you have the required crafting materials.
