Where Loyalty Lies is a side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. This walkthrough will guide you through the quest step by step, including where to go, what to investigate, and what you need to do to complete it.
Starting Location
This quest automatically starts after you complete the previous quest, “Shadows in the Woods.”
Raise your notoriety to Notorious or higher
To progress the quest, you need to reach Infamy Level 4, also known as Notorious. Complete Court Activities and other activities that weaken Brencis’ forces to raise your Infamy. Soldier Camps are a quick way to earn Infamy.
Head to Svartura Plaza by daylight
Once your Infamy reaches Level 4 (Notorious), head to the plaza in the center of Svartrau City during the day to meet Sara.
Follow Sara
At the plaza, Sara will automatically meet you. Speak with her, then follow her to the Manumit hideout to continue the quest.
Find out what happened to the missing scouts
When you get to the hideout, a cutscene plays automatically. In it, you’re inducted as a member of the Manumits. Your next goal now is to prove yourself. After the cutscene ends, talk to Vladimir. Once you’re done speaking with him, you’ll get an optional quest called Old Friends, New Friends.
Seek out the house with the pink facade in Neustadt
Now, head to the southwest corner of Svartrau City and look for a house with a pink Facade.
Head inside the house and activate Focus Mode to search for clues. Inspect the highlighted areas carefully to find the evidence and complete this part of the objective.
Follow the blood trail
Exit the house and scan the alley. You’ll spot bloodstains on the ground next to a cart. Keep following the blood trail from there.
The trail leads out through the locked west gate into the slums area. You can leave the city through any other gate, or by simply climbing over the wall.
Once you’re outside, take a look at the destroyed cart, then carry on following the trail west toward The Middens slum until it leads you to a locked warehouse.
The warehouse has a handprint next to the door. Since the door of the warehouse is locked, so you’ll need another way in. Head to the right side of the building, where you’ll find a cart, some crates, and a few wooden structures nearby. Use these to climb up and get onto the roof.
Look for an opening on the roof and drop down through it to get inside the warehouse.
Check if anyone survived
Inside the house, inspect the two bodies of the missing Manumit scouts to gather clues about what happened. After checking the bodies, go through the door to the courtyard.
In the corner, you’ll find a dead man lying against a barrel. Use Compel the Soul to learn more about what happened to the group.
Kill the soldiers
After speaking with the man, a group of soldiers will enter the courtyard and attack you. Defeat all the soldiers to complete the Where Loyalty Lies quest.
