A Mystery in the Depths | The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

This guide shows the complete walkthrough of A Mystery in the Depths in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game, released on 12th May 2023. You will get the final ability to fill out your wheel: Autobuild.

Starting Location

After finishing Main Quest: Camera Work in the Depths for Josha & Robbie in Lookout Landing, they will give you “A Mystery in the Depths” main quest. In the quest, you need to follow a trail of statues to a ‘temple’ that turns out to be an old mine.

Find the Temple-Like Building in the Depths

There are no quest markers provided for this particular task, so you’ll need to navigate through the depths using visual cues and prior knowledge. From your first visit to the depths, you should have already activated the Iayusus Lightroot. Fast travel to quickly reach the Iayusus Lightroot location.

Starting from there, you must head south. As you progress, activate the Nihcayam Lightroot and the “Nogukoyk Lightroot” along the way. Continuing to follow the southern path, you will eventually arrive at a temple with lights in Great Abandoned Central Mine.

Go inside and interact with the altar to awaken the Construct at the temple and he will pass along his special ability: Autobuild.

Now use Ultrahand to put the wheel back on the cart.

Then use Autobuild on the second cart to repair it.

Master Kohga Boss Fight

Prepare for a boss battle with Master Kohga, a member of the Yiga clan in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Master Kohga will use their car to try and run you down. Stun and knock them off their vehicle with a bow shot, then swiftly approach and attack with your sword to weaken them.

Return to Josha in Lookout Landing

After completing your investigation, make your way back to Lookout Landing to meet with the quest giver, Josha. She gives you a Schema Stone for Hot-Air Balloon.
