Looking to get the Gastronome Trophy in Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, This trophy requires you to find, capture, and eat all 48 unique food items hidden across the treacherous landscapes of the game. This list provides the exact locations for every snake, bird, fish, fruit, and mushroom.
Dremuchij
Frog B (Tree Frog)
After you land in the area, look to your right to find a patch of grass behind the trees. Crawling on the ground through the grass to spot the frog.
Mushroom C (Siberian Inkcap)
At the start, look at the base of the tree to find Mushroom C.
Mushroom A (Russian Oyster Mushroom)
At the start, look at a tree stump on the left to find Mushroom A.
Snake H (Reticulated Python) and Snake G (Giant Anaconda)
At the start, jump over the log to find two snakes in the grass. Kick them to collect. These can be a little hard to spot as they keep moving through the grass.
Fruit B (Russian False Mango)
These big green fruits can be found hanging from a tree. Go to the tree where you collected your backpack, then look to the left to spot the fruits hanging there.
Dremuchij Swampland
Indian Gavial
You can find crocodiles in the swamp area of Dremuchij. To get their meat, you’ll need to defeat one with your knife. Once you have the meat, you can eat it from your food menu.
Hornet’s Nest (Food)
Head to the swamp area and look for the island. Hornet’s Nest (Food) can be found hanging on a tree on the island.
Dremuchij North
Fruit C (Golova)
It’s a yellowish fruit hanging from a tree, just to the right of where the first guard is standing as you enter the area first time.
Bird E (Sunda Whistling-Thrush)
Just below where you found the fruits, you’ll find a patch of grass. Look for the black birds in that grass. They can be hard to spot, so you can either crawl through the grass to see them or throw a grenade into the area. (revisit the area later)
Fruit A (Yabloko Moloko)
Straight ahead, you will see a tree with red fruits hanging from it. They look like big red apples. The location is where the second guard patrols, near a dead and hollow tree stump.
Bird D (Magpie)
From the last spot, go right and head down to a large patch of grass right before a log. Look carefully for some birds hiding in the grass.
Rassvet
Rat
Turn left from the metal stairs. You’ll see some wooden crates stacked against the wall of a ruined building. Go behind the crates and you’ll find a small crawl space. Crawl inside, and you’ll find a rat there.
Dremuchij (2nd Visit)
Medicinal Plant (C Med)
Just turn around from the spot of the previous collectible and go straight ahead. You’ll find a purple flower plant between two grassy spots near the mountain wall.
Medicinal Plant (Disinfect)
It is located about in the middle of the same larger area. Look for a yellow flower at the base of a tree.
Flying Squirrel
In the middle of the same larger area, you’ll find flying squirrels. They often glide between trees and sometimes climb up them.
Dremuchij North (2nd Visit)
Snake F (Green Tree Python)
When you reach the Dremuchij North area, drop down from the ledge, and you’ll see a snake hanging from a tree right in front of you.
Snake A (King Cobra)
Head north from the previous location to find this snake in the first patch of grass in the middle of the narrow path.
Dremuchij South (2nd Visit)
Medicinal Plant (Splint)
After you enter this area, you’ll need to crawl under a fallen tree to keep going. Before you do that, look to your left to find a little purple flower at the bottom of a rock near a tree.
Markhor (Food)
After you crawl under the wooden log, look to your left. You’ll see a big goat behind the tree. Use your knife to hunt it and then eat the meat.
European Rabbit (Food)
You will find a rabbit in the same area near the cliff edge.
Medicinal Plant (Styptic)
After you climb over the log, you’ll be in the same area where you found the last item. Now, look for a small plant with large, flat leaves near a tree trunk.
Chyornyj Prud
Snake D (Coral Snake)
After entering the area, you will find a Coral Snake on the right side near the water. Coral snakes are known for their bright sequence of red, yellow, and black rings on their body.
Snake E (Milk Snake)
The Milk Snake can be found on the left side of the area, near the water. This snake pattern is similar to that of the Coral snake.
Frog A (Otton Frog)
You’ll find an orange and reddish frog swimming in the shallow water near the left side, close to where you found the last item.
Frog C (Poison Dart Frog)
It’s a red frog with blue legs. You can find it swimming in the shallow water near the shore in the middle (start) of the area.
Fish C (Arowana)
To find this fish, head to the central and western parts of the area where the water is deeper. Go into the water and dive down. You’ll need to kill the fish so it becomes an item you can pick up.
Bolshaya Past
Russian Ration (Food) + Calorie Mate (Food)
You’ll find these two items in the same storage hut where you located the second mousetrap.
Chyornaya Peschera Cave Branch
Kenyan Mangrove Crab
In the starting area, put on the thermal goggles to spot the Kenyan Mangrove Crabs crawling around.
Note: The Snake near the crab is not the Snake B (Taiwanese Cobra), which is the next collectible item.
Snake B (Taiwanese Cobra)
From the starting room, follow the path in front of the Animals Camo. Then take the right path to reach a dead end. Use thermal goggles to spot the Taiwanese Cobra there.
Mushroom E (Russian Glow Cap)
It’s in the same place as the snake. It looks like a bright green glowing mushroom.
Vampire Bat
Follow the narrow path opposite the previous collectible, then crawl through the small space to reach another cavern. Use your thermal goggles to spot the bats on the ceiling.
The Pain Hornets’ Nest
Note: You need to have a hornet’s nest for this.
In the Pain boss fight, equip the hornet’s nest. Let The Pain hit you with his bee swarm attack for 5–10 seconds. After that, the hornet’s nest will disappear from your items and change into a Pain Hornet’s Nest in your food menu. Make sure to eat it.

Fish B (Maroon Shark)
You can see these fish swimming at the start of the area.
Fish A (Bigeye Trevally)
You can see these fish swimming at the start of the area. They are smaller in size compared to the previous ones.
Ponizovje Warehouse: Exterior
Cobalt Blue Tarantula (Food)
You can find Tarantula on the wall and floor near the big red door.

Instant Noodles (Food)
Head to the second floor and go through the door on the left to find the Instant Noodles.
It is behind the crate near the red door on the F1 (1st floor) level.
Graniny Gorki South
Mushroom D (Fly Agaric)
You’ll find these brown mushrooms at the base of a tree at the start of the area.
Graniny Gorki Exterior: Outside Walls
Bird C (Red Avadavat)
It’s hidden in the first patch of grass you’ll see after entering the area. Use Thermal Goggles to spot it.

Tsuchinoko (Food)
Head to the start of the area and backtrack toward the Ponizovje Warehouse. You’ll find a few patches of grass just before the warehouse. Place your mousetrap there and check it later to see if you’ve caught a mouse. It might take several tries.
Svyatogornyj South
Mushroom F (Spatsa)
You’ll find this gray mushroom at the base of a tree at the beginning of the area.
R. Vegetable (Vine Melon)
Shoot the hanging green vegetables just above the Ga-ko to collect them.
Mushroom G (Baikal Scaly Tooth)
In the same location, go to the tree on the left side of the path. You’ll find the grey mushroom attached to the trunk of the tree, near its base.
Svyatogornyj West
Mushroom B (Ural Lumnescent Mushroom)
After entering Svyatogornyj West, take the left path and look for a fallen tree trunk. You’ll find this mushroom on another tree nearby, on its left side. It’s attached to the tree’s trunk, near its base.
Sokrovenno South
Bird A (Parrot)
At the start of the area, you’ll find the parrot sitting on a tree stump.
Krasnogorje Mountain Base
Snake C (Thai Cobra)
Follow the path along the mountain wall. After climbing down from the small ledge, you’ll find a snake crawling.
Bird B (Vulture)
You will find a few vultures sitting on the left side near the cliff edge.
Emperor Scorpion (Food)
You’ll find them in the same area where you found the snake and vultures. Use your Thermal Goggles to spot them.
Rokovoj Bereg
Snake k (Snake Solidus)
You can find it near a wooden log hidden in the grass. Use the thermal goggles to see it more easily.
