This article reveals the locations and codes needed to unlock all seven safes in the Vatican area of the game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, released on December 9, 2024.
Belvedere Courtyard
The first safe is at the start of the Belvedere Courtyard in the open-world Vatican area. You can locate the safe inside the first tent. Check the desk drawer to find a ticket stub. You’ll see the numbers 3 and 8 on the front of the ticket. You’ll find the numbers 5 and 2 when you turn it over. The number 5238 is the safe code.
Secret of Secrets Mystery Safe
You can start the Secret of Secrets mystery in the upstairs office of the Sistine Chapel. The Sistine Chapel is on the southern side of the Vatican City map.
To begin, go inside the chapel, use the Clerical Key to open the door, and head upstairs and open the drawer of the table. Interact with the mystery note (Planetary Chart) to start the Secret of Secrets mystery.
The mystery note you found in the table drawer is called the Planetary Chart. It has a list of symbols, each with a number next to it. The numbers go up in order from the bottom of the chart. The symbol that matches the number 4 is missing from the chart. To open the safe, you’ll need to carefully look at the Planetary Chart and figure out which number goes with which symbol.
The code to open the safe is mentioned in another note in the room. Nicoletti’s Letter. Peter with the key, then Paul with the sword.
Now pick up the Peter and Paul statues from the same room and turn them upside down to see two planetary symbols painted on the bottom.
Match these symbols with the planetary Chart to find the code. The code for the Secret of Secrets safe is 4471.
Post Office Cellar Safe (A Savage Discovery)
This safe is available during the ‘A Savage Discovery’ Fieldwork Side Quest. In this fieldwork, you’ll head to the excavation site, where you can get the Cellar Key by defeating an enemy. Once you have the key, use it to unlock the door under the post office. Inside take out the guard to find a note. The note talks about November from last year. Since November is the 11th month and the last year was 1936, the safe code is 1136.
A Date to Remember Mystery (A Nun in Trouble)
Note: You can start the mystery sidequest “A Date to Remember” only after you begin the Fieldwork Sidequest: “A Nun in Trouble” which will unlock the Museum Wing area.
Head into the Belvedere Courtyard’s military area and enter the first tent on the left. Read the Shipment Report to start the mystery side quest.
Next, head through the door at the northern end and walk through the hallway to reach the Museum Wing Garden.
Inside the Museum Wing Garden, look for a tent and enter it to find a locked chest and two Mystery Notes on the table along with a sleeping soldier.
The first note mentions a Code for the safe as DICE. The date is the 15th and the shipment arrived on Wednesday.
The second note is a calendar confirming the Wednesday shipment — but on the 20th.
Next, search the desk drawer to find a Code Lookup Table with a circle number for Wednesday.
As per the clue we need to find out the code for DICE from this lookup table on Friday. The code is 6380. Open the chest to find Giovanni’s Letter, Vatican Medicine, and money.
Museum Safe (A Nun in Trouble)
Complete the quest “A Nun in Trouble” to unlock a door on the northern side of the garden. The garden location is marked on the map below. Enter the small storage room located in the northern part of the garden to find a locked safe.
Switch off the green lamp near the door to reveal the code 7171. Finally, open the safe to get a Drinking Horn.
Father and Son Mystery
Progress through the fieldwork sidequest ‘A Nun in Trouble’, where you have to rescue NPC Giuliana and receive Giuliana’s Key from her for a room on top of the Borgia Tower.
Head into the room and open the table drawer. Interact with the note- Italian Poem inside the drawer to start the mystery sidequest. This Italian poem has certain letters circled.
Next, open the table drawer of another nearby table to find another note – Polybius Square Diagram. This diagram is a special grid that helps turn letters into numbers which you’ll need to solve the puzzle.
To solve the puzzle, You have to use the letters circled out in the Italian poem, and cross-reference with the Polybius Square Diagram to figure out the safe code in the Father and Son Mystery.

I + R = 5
I + A = 8
T + A = 7
S + A = 3
The final code to unlock the safe in the Father and Son Mystery from Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is 5873.
Signs of Trouble
After completing the “A Nun in Trouble” fieldwork, you’ll come across a mystery note called Gina’s Request in the chapel. This will start a mystery quest called Signs of Trouble that will take you to the excavation site. Head inside the building at the site, and you’ll find the safe inside. The code for the safe, 1891, is written at the bottom of Gina’s Request.
