How to Join the Mages Guild

The Mages Guild can be joined pretty early in the game. You’ll obtain spells, items, and equipment that make being a spellcaster a lot easier in the long run if you join the Mages Guild.

Every major city has a Mages Guild, with the main HQ at the Arcane University in the Imperial City. To join the Mages Guild, talk to the guild leader in any city (except the Imperial City). Below is the location of the Branch leader of the Mages Guild at Chorrol. Head to the Chorrol North gate, as shown on the map below.

Once there, speak with the NPC Teekeeus (branch leader), who will offer you the opportunity to join the Mages Guild.

Just talk to one of the guild leaders and choose the ‘Join the Fighters Guild’ option to begin the Fighters Guild questline in Oblivion. I

You can start the Fighters Guild questline in any of these three cities:

  • Anvil, where the guild is led by Azzan

  • Chorrol, with Vilena Donton in charge

How to Join the Dark Brotherhood

Follow the steps below to join the Dark Brotherhood

Step 1: Kill an Innocent NPC

To join the Dark Brotherhood, the player must kill an innocent NPC—someone who hasn’t attacked you first.

Step 2: Sleep & You will be visited by Lucien

Next, sleep in a safe bed (like in a home or an inn). While sleeping, you will wake up to see Lucien Lachance. He’ll congratulate you for being a ruthless killer and offer to let you join the Dark Brotherhood.

He will give you a quest called “A Knife in the Dark” where he will ask you to eliminate an NPC named Rufio, who is hiding at the Inn of Ill Omen, south of the Imperial City.

Step 3: Kill Rufio

Head to the Inn of Ill Omen, located on the road south of the Imperial City. Rufio is in the private quarter, which is in the basement.

Use the hatch inside the inn to enter the basement, where you’ll find him asleep in a bed. Take him out to complete the task.

Step 4: Join the Dark Brotherhood

After you’ve killed Rufio, sleep in a bed again, and Lucien will appear once more. Speak with Lucien, and you’ll officially become a member of the Dark Brotherhood.

How to Join the Thieves Guild

Follow below mentioned steps to join Thieves Guild

Step 1: Commit a Crime & Go to jail

To join the Thieves Guild, you need to commit a crime in the Imperial City – like stealing, pickpocketing, or hitting a guard. After doing so, you’ll likely get caught and sent to jail, which is the first step toward joining the guild.

Step 2: Complete your sentence in Jail

While in jail, sleep to finish your sentence. Once your time is up, you’ll be released from prison.

Step 3: Myvryna Arano

After you’re out of prison, wait for about 4 hours, and Myvryna Avran will appear next to you with an invitation to join the Thieves Guild.

Next, go to the south end of the Waterfront District and wait till 11 p.m.

Step 5: Talk to Armand in the Garden of Dareloth

Wait in the garden till 11:00 pm (or midnight). After midnight, Armand Christophe will appear along with a few other people. Armand will give you a task: steal a book from someone named Amantius Allectus. He won’t say about the exact location, but the house is in the Temple District.

Step 6: Get the Amantius House Location

You can talk to the beggar just outside the garden and give him 5 gold coins to learn where Amantius’ house is. It’s located in the Temple District.

Step 7: Steal Amantius Allectus’ Diary

Now, proceed to the Temple District. Follow the path along the wall until you see a door on your left. Refer to the image below.
