Hogwarts Valley: All 16 Merlin Trial Puzzles
This guide shows how to solve all Merlin Trial puzzles in the Hogwarts Valley area of the Hogwarts Legacy game, which released on 10th February 2023. Solving Merlin Trials increases your gear capacity.

1) Small Balls Merlin Trial
The location of the Merlin Trial is shown in the picture below. Go to the marked location and use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground to start the trial.
On the north side of the trial location, you will find the balls behind some rocks as shown in the picture below. Then use the Wingardium Leviosa spell on the stones and guide them to the holes as shown in the picture below.
The second cluster of balls is up the hill on the south side of the trial as shown in the picture below. Use the Wingardium Leviosa spell on the stones and guide them to the holes as shown in the picture below.
Fly up the hill on the northeast side of the trial location, and you will find the balls in a small tent as shown in the picture below. Then use the Wingardium Leviosa spell on the stones and guide them south to the hole as shown in the second picture below.
2) Small Balls Merlin Trial (Goblin Camp)
Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the picture below to start the Goblin Camp Merlin Trial.
After the trial starts, open the door near the campfire and proceed inside. Use Accio spell on the stones there as shown in the picture below. Then guide them to the holes near the campfire as shown in the second picture below.
Now climb up the stairs on the west side. Use the Accio spell on the stones and guide them to the holes as shown in the picture below.
Go to the east side of the camp and you will find the holes next to the eastern wall of the camp. Go a little further east and burn the vines as shown in the picture below. This will reveal the stones hidden behind them. Now use the Accio spell on the stones and guide them to the holes next to the eastern wall of the camp as shown in the second picture below. This will complete the trial.
3) Destroy Small Balls Merlin Trial
The location of the Merlin Trial is shown in the picture below. Go to the marked location and use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground to start the trial.
To complete the trail, you need to destroy nine small balls on top of pillars. Two balls are on the west side of the Merlin Trial as shown in the picture below. Three balls are on the east side of the Merlin Trial as shown in the second picture below. One of the balls is behind the rock (Marked as ‘5’ in the picture below). Three are on the south side as shown in the third picture below. One ball is on the north side as shown in the fourth picture below. Destroying all nine balls completes the trial.
4) Light Torches Merlin Trial
To complete the trial, you need to light up three torches nearby. One of the torches is under the stone bridge on the south side of the trial. Two of the torches are along the shore on the west side of the trial.
5) Giant Stone Ball Merlin Trial (Brocburrow)
Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the pictures below to start the Merlin Trial.
From the trial location, go south and you will find a giant hole in the ground. From there, keep going further south. Soon you will find some stones on the path as shown in the picture below. Destroy the stones and go behind. There you will find a giant stone ball. Hit the giant ball and roll it down into the giant hole to complete the trial.
6) Moonlight Merlin Trial (Brocburrow)
Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the picture below to start the Merlin Trial.
After using the Mallowsweet, three giant stone pillars will activate in the area nearby. The giant stones have moonlight gems inside them. You will also find clusters of butterflies in the area as shown in the picture below. Go near the butterflies and use the Lumos spell, which will make them follow you. Take them to the giant stone pillar, which will light it up as shown in the second picture below. Light up the three giant stone pillars to complete the Merlin Trial.
7) Stone Platforms Merlin Trial
Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the pictures below to start the Merlin Trial. Now simply jump on the platform in the front as shown in the second picture below to complete the trial.
8) Destroy Stones Pillars Merlin Trial
After using the Mallowsweet, destroy the five stone pillars around the symbol as shown in the pictures below to complete the trial.
9) Giant Stone Ball Merlin Trial (Keenbridge)
Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the picture below to start the Keenbridge Merlin Trial.
After starting the trial, go west to reach a giant stone ball. Use Depulso spell on the giant stone ball to move it over the fence through the wooden ramp behind it as shown in the picture below. Then use the Depulso spell to guide the giant ball across the bridge and drop it into the hole as shown in the second picture below. This will complete the trial.
Note: You will get Depulso Spell by completing professor Sharp’s Assignment 1.
10) Moonlight Merlin Trial
After using the Mallowsweet, three giant stone pillars will activate in the area nearby. The giant stones have moonlight gems inside them. You will also find clusters of butterflies in the area. Go near the butterflies and use the Lumos spell, which will make them follow you. Take them to the giant stone pillar, which will light it up. Light up the three giant stone pillars to complete the Merlin Trial. One of the pillars is on the east side of the trial and two are on the west side.
11) Destroy Small Balls Merlin Trial
The location of the Merlin Trial is shown in the picture below. Go to the marked location and use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground to start the trial.
To complete the trail, you need to destroy nine small balls on top of pillars. Three balls are on the north side of the trial as shown in the picture below. Destroy them then climb up the roof of the ruins on the west side. You will find three more stone balls there as shown in the second picture below. Destroy the balls. Then jump down from the south side and proceed ahead to the next room. There you will find three more stone balls. One of the balls his hidden behind some rocks as shown in the third picture below. Destroy all nine balls to complete the trial.
12) Stone Platforms Merlin Trial
Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the pictures below to start the Merlin Trial. Now simply jump on the platform in the front to complete the trial.
13) Repair Statues Merlin Trial
After using the Mallowsweet, three statues will break down. You need to use the Reparo spell and repair these three statutes to complete the trial. The first statue is on edge of the hill on the east side of the trial. The second statue is in front of the mountain wall on the south side of the trial. The third statue is under the tent on the west side of the trial. The location of all the broken statues is shown in the pictures below.
14) Stone Platforms Merlin Trial
Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the pictures below to start the Merlin Trial. Now simply jump on the five platforms in the front to complete the trial.
15) Giant Stone Ball Merlin Trial
After using the Mallowsweet, go north and you will find a giant ball in front of a Gazebo. Push it down the hill and guide it to the hole under the bridge on the west side as shown in the pictures below to complete the trial.
16) Light Torches Merlin Trial
To complete the trial, you need to light up three torches nearby. The location of all the torches is shown in the pictures below. The third torch is behind some crates on the north side of the trial. Destroy the crates and then light up the torch.
