South Hogwarts: All 15 Merlin Trial Puzzles

This guide shows how to solve all Merlin Trial puzzles in the South Hogwarts area of the Hogwarts Legacy game, which released on 10th February 2023. Solving Merlin Trials increases your gear capacity.

1) Solve Merlin’s Trial Quest

The first Merlin Trial is part of the Trials of Merlin story quest. Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the picture below to start the Merlin Trial. Then use the Incendio spell to light torches on top of three pillars around the swirl symbol as shown in the second picture below. Then trial completes as you light up the three torches.

2) Small Balls Merlin Trial

The location of the Merlin Trial is shown in the picture below. Go to the marked location and use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground to start the trial.

Go a little west from the trial location. Then use the Accio spell on the stones and guide them to the holes as shown in the picture below.

Go a little east from the trial location. Then use the Accio spell on the stones and guide them to the holes as shown in the picture below.

Go a little south of the trial location. Then use the Accio spell on the stones and guide them to the holes as shown in the picture below. This will complete the trial.

3) Giant Stone Ball Merlin Trial

Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the picture below to start the Merlin Trial. As the trial starts, the giant stone ball in front of the swirl symbol will become active.

To solve the puzzle, you need to move the ball into the giant hole in the ground near the river as shown in the second picture below. First, use Leviosa spell to lift the giant stone ball in the air as shown in the picture below. Then move towards the hole and use the Accio spell to summon the giant stone towards you. Now guide the giant stone into the hole while using Accio. The trial completes when the giant stone ball drops into the hole.

4) Destroy Stones Pillars Merlin Trial

After using the Mallowsweet, destroy the five stone pillars around the symbol as shown in the pictures below to complete the trial.

5) Moonlight Merlin Trial

After using the Mallowsweet, three stone pillars with moonlight gems will activate nearby. You will also find clusters of butterflies in the area. Go near the butterflies and use the Lumos spell, which will make them follow you. Take them to the stone pillar, which will light it up. Light up the three giant stone pillars to complete the Merlin Trial. The location of all three stone pillars is shown in the pictures below.

6) Giant Stone Merlin Trial

After using the Mallowsweet, Climb up the mountain on the north to reach the giant ball. Look down on the north side and you will see a giant hole in the ground as shown in the second picture below. Now use Accio and Depulso spell to push down the giant stone and guide it to the hole to complete the trial.

7) Destroy Stone Balls Merlin Trial (Aranshire)

Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the pictures below to start the Merlin Trial. To complete the trial, you need to destroy eight stone balls kept on top of pillars. On the north and east side, you will find three stone balls each. Look to your west and you will see another stone ball. Go to the edge of the mountain on the west side to see the final stone ball far down below. 8) Stone Platforms Merlin Trial (Aranshire)

Use Mallowsweet on the swirl symbol on the ground at the location shown in the pictures below to start the Merlin Trial. Now simply jump on the platform in the front as shown in the second picture below to complete the trial.

9) Moonlight Merlin Trial (Aranshire)

After using the Mallowsweet, three giant stone pillars will activate in the area nearby. The giant stones have moonlight gems inside them. You will also find clusters of butterflies in the area as shown in the second picture below. Go near the butterflies and use the Lumos spell, which will make them follow you. Take them to the giant stone pillar, which will light it up. Light up the three giant stone pillars to complete the Merlin Trial. One of the butterfly clusters and stone is near the shore. Use Revelio, if you are unable to find it.

10) Light Torches Merlin Trial (Aranshire)

To complete the trial, you need to light up three torches nearby. Two of the torches are on the west side and one on the north as shown in the second picture below.

11) Moonlight Merlin Trial (Aranshire)

After using the Mallowsweet, three giant stone pillars will activate on the west side. The giant stones have moonlight gems inside them. You will also find clusters of butterflies in the area. Go near the butterflies and use the Lumos spell, which will make them follow you. Take them to the giant stone pillar, which will light it up. Light up the three giant stone pillars to complete the Merlin Trial. After the trail starts, jump down the mountain on the west side to find the first stone pillar. Then go further west towards west to find the remaining two stone pillars as shown in the pictures below.

12) Giant Stone Merlin Trial (Aranshire)

After using the Mallowsweet, Climb up the mountain on the north and use Depulso to push down the giant stone as shown in the second picture below. Then push it a bit north and drop it into the small puddle of water as shown in the third picture below. This will complete the trial.

13) Small Stones Merlin Trial (Aranshire)

To complete the trial, you need to guide small balls into their socket. As the trial starts, look down the mountain towards the west side. There you will find the balls as shown in the second picture below. Guide them to their socket on the left side.

Now go east, and you will see some holes near a stone arch above the road. These holes are very easy to locate. Go southeast from the holes, and you will find some balls on the foot of the rock wall as shown in the picture below. Guide the balls to their socket.

Take the path going north under the stone arch. Then jump down from the west side ad you will find the stone balls there as shown in the picture below. Guide them to their socket to complete the trial.

14) Giant Stone Merlin Trial (Aranshire)

After using the Mallowsweet, go uphill in the south direction to find a giant stone ball as shown in the second picture below. Push it down the hill and guide it to its socket to complete the trial.

15) Destroy Stones Pillars Merlin Trial (Aranshire)

After using the Mallowsweet, destroy the five stone pillars around the symbol as shown in the pictures below to complete the objective.
