This guide shows the location of all Nornir Chests and how to solve the puzzles to open these chests in the Vanaheim region of God of War Ragnarok. There is a total of 11 Nornir Chests in the area.
1) The Southern Wilds Nornir Chest
The chest is at the location shown in the picture below. To unlock the chest, you need to hit three posts to make the same symbol appear on them as on the chest.
The first post is on the left side of the chest as shown in the picture below. Hit the post until the symbol “C” appears on it.
Now turn around and you will see the second post on the left side, covered in vines, as shown in the picture below. Burn the vines with your blade and then hit the post until the symbol “R” appears on it.
Walk along the mountain wall towards the right and you will see the third post up ahead, covered in vines. These vines extend to the left, up to an approachable distance from you. Burn the vines with your blade and hit the post until the symbol “N” appears on it. This will unlock the chest. Open the chest to get an Idunn Apple.
2) The Abandoned Village Nornir Chest
Note: These collectibles can be found while doing the Main Quest 13: Creatures of Prophecy or you can return to the area after doing the complete story.
The location of the Nornir chest is shown in the picture below. To unlock the Nornir chest, you need to ignite the torch above three seals.
First, head to the left corner and use Chaos Blades to clear the blockage surrounding the brazier so that it can be rotated.
Brazier #1
Throw the axe to turn the crane and then pull the burning brazier toward you. When the burning brazier is released it will swing back to light the torch 1.
Brazier #2
Jump to the left platform. Hit the crane multiple times to bring the brazier near it. And then swing the burning brazier toward torch 2 to light it.
Brazier #3
Cross the bridge and then light the third torch near the river using the Chaos Blades.
Nornir Chest is now beneath the broken bridge. You can open the chest after lighting all three torches.
3) Cliffside Ruins Nornir Chest
The chest is at the location shown in the picture below. To unlock the chest, you need to hit three posts to make the same symbol appear on them as on the chest.
The first post is on the right side of the chest as shown in the picture below. It won’t be clearly visible as it is will be hidden behind some vines. Use the purple arrows and your blade to burn the vines. Then hit the post until the symbol “R” appears on it.
The second post is on the left side of the chest as shown in the picture below. To be able to see it, you need to climb up the upper platform. Hit the post until the symbol “F” appears on it.
To get to the third post, you will need to cross the river and go north as shown in the pictures below. Hit the post until the symbol “P” appears on it. This will unlock the chest. Open it to get am Idunn Apple.
4) The Veiled Passage Nornir Chest
The chest is at the location shown in the picture below. From the marked location, go left and you will find the chest on the right side as shown in the pictures below. To unlock the chest, you will have to destroy three seals at once.
The seals are on the wall opposite the chest as shown in the picture below. Seal #1 is behind some vines. To destroy the vines, turn around and collect a grenade from the corner as shown in the second picture below. Then shoot a purple arrow at the vines. Now throw a grenade at it to burn the vines as shown in the third picture below.
Now shoot purple arrows between the three seals as shown in the picture below. Then throw a grenade at them to destroy the seals. This will unlock the chest. The path to the chest is blocked with golden debris. Destroy the debris with the grenade. Then open the chest to get an Idunn Apple.
5) Goddess Falls Nornir Chest
The chest is at the location shown in the pictures below. To unlock the chest, you will have to light three torches.
Torch #1 is on the right side of the chest and Torch #2 is on the left side of the chest as shown in the picture above. Torch #3 is on the mountain on the opposite side of the chest as shown in the picture below. To light the torches, shoot purple arrows between the torch and to a point accessible by your blade. Then use your blade to hit a purple arrow and cause an explosion, lighting up the torch. Once you have lit up all three torches, the chest will be unlocked. Open the chest to get a Horn of Mead.
6) Eastern Barri Woods Nornir Chest
The chest is at the location shown in the pictures below. To unlock the chest, you will have to hit three posts to make the same symbols appear on them as on the chest.
Post #1 is on the left side of the chest as shown in the picture below. Hit it until the symbol “F” appears on it. For Post #2, go in the path in front of the chest. At the end of the path you will see the post on a structure far away as shown in the pictures below. Hit it until the symbol “C” appears on it.
For the final post, go on the path right of the chest. Here you will see the post on the right side of the path as shown in the picture below. The post will be covered with vines. Use your blade to burn the vines. Then hit the post until the symbol “P” appears on it. This will unlock the chest. Open it to get a Horn of Blood Mead.
7) The Plains Nornir Chest 1
The chest is at the location shown in the picture below. To unlock the chest, you will have to destroy three seals.
Seal #1 is above the rocks on the northwest side of the area as shown below.
Seal #2 is inside a tree trunk on the right side of the chest.
Seal #3 is inside the trunk of the tree behind the chest as shown in the picture below. Hit the poison totem on the right side to stop the poison and then go there to destroy the seal. This will unlock the chest. Open the chest to get a Horn of Blood Mead.
8) The Plains Nornir Chest 2
The chest is at the location shown in the picture below. To unlock the chest, you will have to hit three seals in quick succession.
Seal #1 is on the right side of the chest as shown in the picture below. Seal #2 is on the left side of the chest as shown in the second picture below. For Seal #3, go left around the mountain and you will be able to see it sitting on the top as shown in the picture below. Hit them in quick succession to unlock the chest and get an Idunn Apple.
9) The Jungle Nornir Chest
The chest is at the location shown in the pictures below. To unlock the chest, you will have to hit three posts to make the same symbols appear on them as on the chest.
Post #1 is on the right side of the chest as shown in the picture above. Hit it until the symbol “E” appears on it. Then turn around and climb up the stairs on the right side. Here you will see Post #2 behind some vines as shown in the picture below. Shoot some purple arrows and then hit one of those arrows with your blade to cause an explosion, which will burn the vines. Then hit the post until the symbol “N” appears on it. Now climb up the wall on the right side of Post #2 and turn around to see Post #3 as shown in the pictures below. Hit it until the symbol “B” appears on it. This will unlock the chest. Open it to get a Horn of Blood Mead.
10) The Sinkholes Nornir Chest 1
As you enter the area on a long zipline, go to the cave on the west side to find the chest as shown in the pictures below. To unlock the chest, you will have to ignite three torches.
Go left from the chest to find Torch #1 as shown in the picture below. Shoot purple arrows and hit one of the purple arrows with your blade to cause an explosion, igniting the torch.
Go right from the chest to find Torch #2 as shown in the picture below. Shoot purple arrows and hit one of the purple arrows with your blade to cause an explosion, igniting the torch.
Climb up the mountain wall behind Torch #2. From there, you can see Torch #3 up ahead on the mountain on the south side as shown in the picture below. Shoot purple arrows and hit one of the purple arrows with your blade to cause an explosion, igniting the torch. This will unlock the chest. Open it to get a Horn of Blood Mead
11) The Sinkholes Nornir Chest 2
You will find this chest after coming out from the dark tunnel at the location shown in the pictures below. To unlock the chest, you will have to destroy three totems at once.
Totem #1 is on the left side of the chest as shown in the picture below. Hit it with a spear.
Totem #2 is on the right side of the chest as shown in the picture below. Hit it with a spear.
Go further right to find Totem #3 as shown in the picture below. Hit it with a spear. Then press “Triangle” to explode the three totems at once. This will unlock the chest. Open it to get an Idunn Apple.
