How to open Bell Tower Courtyard Puzzle Door

This guide shows how to open the locked door in the Bell Tower Courtyard in the Hogwarts Legacy game, which released on 10th February 2023. You will find a Collection Chest behind this door.

Open the Level 1 lock door next to the Bell Tower Courtyard Floo Flame location, and go down the stairs to find the puzzle door. The door will have creature symbols around it. Each creature around the door represents numbers 0 to 9 as shown in the second picture below.

Getting close to the door will reveal a riddle, which is basically two very simple mathematics equations. In these equations, one variable is represented with a question mark (?), and the other variable is represented with two question marks (??) as shown in the picture below. The number at the center of the triangle is the sum of the numbers on the three corners of the triangle. Solve the equation to get the variables (? & ??).

Top Equation
12 + Magical Creature (8) + ? = 22
? = 2

Bottom Equation
Magical Creature (7) + Magical Creature (1) + ?? = 9
?? = 1

On the left side of the door, you will find a tablet with ‘?’ on it. Interact with the tablet and change the symbol to the magical creature corresponding to the number 2 as shown in the picture below.

On the right side of the door, you will find a tablet with ‘??’ on it. Interact with the tablet and change the symbol to the magical creature corresponding to the number 1 as shown in the picture below. This will unlock the door. Go inside to open the chest and get clothing items.
