If you are stuck on the News of Victory quest and cannot figure out how to light the beacon at Calphade, you are in the right place. It is a simple enough task once you know what to do, but the mechanic can feel a little awkward if this is your first time using it. This guide explains exactly how to light the beacon and complete the quest.
As the quest progresses, you will eventually reach a tower sitting on top of a hill with a beacon on its top floor. Head inside and walk up the staircase to reach the top. Once you are up there, your job is to light the brazier on fire.
Pull out your bow and look around the area. You will spot a few torches nearby. Point your arrow at one of them and hold it there until the arrow catches fire. The angle needs to be just right, so it may not work on the first try. If one torch is giving you trouble, simply move on and aim at a different one.
If the bow method is frustrating you, there is an easier way to handle it. Use Focused Light by pressing L1 + R1 on PlayStation or LB + RB on Xbox and holding the buttons down while pointing at the brazier. Then release just the L1 or LB button and press it again to set the fire on the object.
As soon as your arrow lights up, aim at the brazier and fire. The beacon will ignite, and the quest step will complete.
