This article will give you a quick overview of Diablo 4’s aspects. We will guide you on everything you need to know about where to find them, how to use them, and what they do, and most importantly have a clear understanding of the aspect system. Certain aspects possess immense power, allowing you to continuously equip them with your character’s weapons to enhance your build significantly.
When you inspect a legendary weapon or equipment, you’ll immediately spot distinctive orange text with a yellow star at the bottom. This signifies the presence of an aspect. If the text shines orange, it means the aspect is active and ready to wield its power. Conversely, if the text appears gray, it indicates inactivity, usually when you possess multiple non-stacking copies of the same aspect.
Where can you obtain aspects?
To access your aspects, simply head over to the Collections Tab and locate the Codex of Power. Here, you’ll find a complete inventory of the aspects you’ve obtained, conveniently sortable by your specific class.
Keep in mind that the occultist, a mysterious figure present in every major hub, plays a pivotal role in obtaining these aspects. There are two primary methods through which you can obtain them.
Method #1
The first method is by completing dungeons scattered across the map. These dungeons are marked with a gated icon and a chest symbol, indicating that you haven’t obtained the first-time rewards yet. These dungeons are specific to each class, such as the Necromancer’s dungeons or the Barbarian-only ones. The progress made in unlocking aspects for a particular class resonates throughout the realms, presenting an opportunity to unlock aspects for other classes you may not have yet experienced.
Method #2
The second method, which I find particularly important, involves extracting aspects from items. By visiting the occultist and selecting the second option, you can extract the aspect from a legendary item. This process destroys the item but allows you to separate the aspect and reattach it to another item. It’s a useful way to transfer a powerful aspect from a current gear piece to a new one.
To equip aspects, go to the item you want to enhance and select the “Imprint Aspect” option. In the Codex of Power, you’ll find the aspects you’ve permanently unlocked. Remember that not all aspects can be applied to all equipment types. If an aspect doesn’t appear for a specific item, it means it’s incompatible. Additionally, when you remove an aspect from an item, it becomes a single-use item in your inventory, found under the “Aspects” tab in the inventory menu. These single-use aspects are locked to the item you attach them to and cannot be reused.
How to use aspects?
Aspects manifest as passive effects intricately tied to particular skills or actions. Consider an aspect that grants damage reduction, based on the number of enemies in the proximity. Once you equip the corresponding aspect onto your gear, these passive effects are always active as long as you have the associated aspect equipped on your gear.
