In this guide, you’ll find the exact locations of all secrets, gold, toys, and codex entries hidden throughout Chapter 9 – Ancestral Forge in the game Doom: The Dark Ages.
9 Demonic Essence – Health
You’ll automatically get this reward after defeating the Eastern Battlefiel miniboss.
Purple Key + Secret 1 + 55 Gold (55/230)
After defeating the Eastern Battlefield miniboss, head back toward the entrance of the area. On the right side of the path, you’ll find a breakable wall. Go inside to collect 5 Gold and the Secret Key.
Drop down from the ledge where you found the Secret Key and move forward. Then open the gate at the end to find a chest containing 50 Gold.
10 Gold (65/230)
Return to the area where you defeated the miniboss earlier, and this time take the path on the right. On the map below, this path is located at the top.
Head down the slope to find 5 Gold. Then, open the gate and continue down to collect another 5 Gold.
Secret 2 + Wolf Statue 1 (Required for Wraithstone)
Head south of the Sentinel Shrine, as indicated on the map below. Go down the slope and look for a purple gate on the left side. Enter it to find a Wolf Statue, and destroy it by throwing your shield.
Secret 3 and 4 + 64 Gold (129/230)
Head toward the Western Battlefield and go to the location marked on the map below. Throw your shield at the green corpse to create a path and climb up to collect 6 Gold.
While on top, move to the left and interact with the lever to drop the Life Sigil on the ground from the crane above.
Next, drop down from the platform and continue forward to find 3 Gold along the path. Then, drop down to the right from where you found the Gold to reach an underground section.
There, you’ll find 5 more Gold and, further along the path, a chest containing 50 Gold.
16 Gold (145/230)
18 Gold is located west of the Western Battlefield. Drop down from the ledge onto the wooden platform below to find Gold.
9 Gold (154/230) and Wolf Statue 2
Head west of the Sentinel Shrine to find two connected tunnels. Enter the tunnels to find Gold near the entrance of each one, and a Wolf Statue at the end.
4 Gold (158/230)
Make your way to the third red combat encounter, and you’ll find 4 Gold inside a small tunnel nearby.
5 Gold (163/230) + Codex Entry 1 (Ancestral Forge)
Head to the northwestern part of the map, as shown below. Drop down from the ledge to find Gold and a Codex Entry on a wooden platform.
11 Gold (174/230) + Secret 5 + Toy (Vagary) + Ruby 1
After you charge the Ancestral Heart for the third time, proceed to your right and jump to see 3 Gold in front of a Secret Key Gate.
Collect the gold and drop to your left to find 8 more gold.
Now, go to the locked gate and enter inside. Go up the ramp platform to find Ruby and a Collectible Toy at the top.
Wolf Statue 3 + Wraithstone
Go north from the Sentinel Statue to find the Wraithstone, which is covered by a shield. Look up to your right to see the third Wolf Statue. You can break it by throwing your shield.
Make sure you’ve already broken the other two Wolf Statues. Once all three are destroyed, the barrier around the Wraithstone will disappear.
Secret 6 + Ruby 2
When you go into the Ancestral Forge, you’ll see a Ruby behind a locked iron gate. Look around for a weak wall near the gate.
Break the wall and go inside. Then, throw your shield through the small opening in the wall to break the chain.
This will unlock the gate. Now you can go inside and grab the Ruby
Secret 7 + 50 Gold (224/230) + Secret 8 + 6 Gold (230/230)
Keep playing through the chapter until you reach the spot shown on the map.
From this location, drop down from the ledge. Turn around and look for a blue gear. Throw your shield at it to make the platform go up. This will let you jump over to a chest with 50 Gold on the left.
Go to the next platform, then drop down to the left, behind it. You’ll find the last 6 Gold there.
Secret 9 + Codex 2 (King Novik) + Weapon Skin
Keep going in the same area until you reach the spot marked on the map. Look up and you’ll see an orange chain. Break it to lower the platform floating above.
Next, jump across to the platform in front of you and look to the left to find a blue gear. Throw your shield at it to lift the platform and the player.
Then jump back to the platform and lower down earlier by destroying the orange chain.
Jump across to the platform with the green corpse. Codex 2 (King Novik) + Weapon Skin will be in front of you on two different platforms.
Demonic Essence – Ammo
You’ll automatically get this reward after defeating the Mancubus miniboss.
