This guide shows how to complete the world quest “Dreams Beneath the Searing Sand” in the game of Genshin Impact 3.1 update, which was released on 28th September 2022. This is the 3rd quest of the “Golden Slumber” questline. You will start the quest at the same location as you ended the previous quest “The Secret of Al-Ahmar“.
Return to the oasis & Defeat the Eremites
Head back to the Sobek Oasis and defeat the Eremites attacking the camp. Talk to Nachtigal after defeating the enemies.
Go to the next oasis
Head to another Oasis southwest of Khaj-Nisut. Talk to Jebrael, Tirzad, etc.
Go to Khaj-Nisut and Search for Khaj-Nisut
Head to the marked location to trigger a cutscene.
Go to the Eremites’ camp
Head south to the Eremite camp and defeat the enemies. It will follow by a cut scene.
Search for clues in the Eremites’ camp
Search for “A Short Letter” that can be found in one of the mini tents on the campsite. Afterward, talk to Jebrael to progress further. Report back to Jebrael on the discovered clues
Pass the Three Trials
Players must complete the three trials by entering each ruin and then operate the Plinth of the Secret Rites. Each of the three trials presents unique challenges, such as puzzles or enemies to overcome.

Find the way to Khaj-Nisut
After passing all three trials, teleport to the entrance and interact with the statue nearby to unlock Khaj-Nisut
Enter Khaj-Nisut
Use for leg Selie to enter the Khaj-Nisut and Continue exploring it.
Explore Khaj-Nisut’s lower floor
Next, drop down the hall on the left and glide to reach a bigger area. Activate the Plinth of the Secret Rites.
Activate the mechanism in the center of the hall
In this part of the quest, you need to remove the seal around three Plinth of the Secret Rites to use them.
#1 Activate the mechanism
Head toward the western mechanism. Release the Primal Embers near mechanism and follow them until they reach the Primal Torches.
Primal Embers will take you down to a lower level and make you pass through the mess of the invisible walls to reach the Primal Torches. Track back to the same mechanism and activate it.
#2 Activate the mechanism
Head toward the southern mechanism. Release the Primal Embers near mechanism and follow them until they reach the Primal Torches.
Primal Embers will take you down a lower level. Release the Primal Embers when the big fan stops. Track back to the same mechanism and activate it.
#3 Activate the mechanism
Head toward the eastern mechanism. Release the Primal Embers near mechanism and follow them until they reach the Primal Torches. Track back to the same mechanism and activate it.
Activate the mechanism in the center of the hall
Go to Khaj-Nisut’s upper floor
After exploring Khaj-Nisut’s lower floor and activating the mechanism in the center of the hall, a player needs to Khaj-Nisut’s upper floor. To get to the higher level, use the large fan on the northern side. Follow the quest marker until you reach a puzzle area.
Operate Prism of Khaj-Nisut and try to reach Khaj-Nisut’s upper floor
Basically, the puzzle works based on the color of “Prism of Khaj-Nisut”. If the “Prism of Khaj-Nisut” is red, then it will move to the nearby red platform. If the color is blue, then it will move to the nearby blue platform.
Go to the Prism of Khaj-Nisut in the middle platform and do the following in order: Initially, the prism will be red color.
- Operate – to move the red platform
- Switch – turn to blue color
- Operate – to move the blue platform
- Operate – to move the blue platform
Use the Four-Leaf Sigil and activate the switch to the elevator. Head to the second elevator and defeat the opponents.
Go to the upper floor and Approach the throne
Use the elevator to ride to the upper level. Approach the throne and defeat all the enemies.
Escape from Khaj-Nisut
Glide down the hole. Go left then right when going through the invisible maze.
First, move away from the door to drop down. Afterward, head back toward the door then go right to land on the platform.
Drop down and move away from the door to drop again, on the floor
Finally, move exit to the door and exit Khaj Nisut.
