This guide will walk you through each step of Eleanor’s Side Story Chapter 1 “Proof is in the Dumpling” in Monster Hunter Stories 3, where you need to track down materials like sucklebugs, witherweed, and molted gumshells.

As the quest starts, simply follow the opening conversation with Eleanor. She shares her idea of gathering a few materials like sucklebugs, witherweed, and molted gumshells.
Once the dialogue ends, you will be moved to a new area near a telescope. At this point, your goal is to survey the surroundings. Interact with the telescope and slowly rotate it to scan the landscape. You will notice marked spots appearing as you aim at the correct locations. Keep adjusting the view until all three areas are identified.
Witherweed Location
Witherweed can be found on the eastern side of Sunpetal Plains. Head to the marked spot on your map and look near the lake, at the base of the cliff wall. The Witherweed appears as a glowing blue item and is hidden under nearby bushes.
Paolumu Location (Molted Gumshell)
Paolumu can be found on the southeastern side of Sunpetal Plains. Head to the marked location on your map to track it down. Once you find it, use the Breath Attack ability during the fight. After defeating the Paolumu, it will drop the Molted Gumshell.
Sucklebug Location
Sucklebugs are found on the island to the left of the castle. Once you reach the island, look for a large rock with blue crystals on it. Break the rock to collect the Sucklebugs.
Once you have all three items, return to camp to finish the quest. At the camp, Eleanor will cook Vermilion Dumplings and give you her Cooking Note 1.
