[FAR CRY 5] Whitetail Mountains – Side Mission

1. Tools of the Trade

It takes place in Jacob Seed’s region of Whitetail Mountains at Dylan’s Master Bait Shop in Widow’s Creek. This is the first of three side missions that will reward the player with the second best Fishing Rod in the game, if completed. The quest giver is Skylar Kohrs.

2. Gone Fishing

It is the second mission in a series of three fishing quests given by Skylar Kohrs. The staring mission is Tools of the Trade which will need to be completed to unlock this mission.

3. The Admiral

The mission starts with Skylar Kohrs at Dylan’s Master Bait Shop in Widow’s Creek. It is the final of three fishing quests that she will offer. The player will have to catch the large fish without her. If doing this solo, players may want to have the Fishing Rod that is available in the Shop. It is a little better than the standard ones found in fishing areas. Expect this fish to take a lot of trial and error to catch.

4. Mountain Armed Convoy

It takes place in Jacob Seed’s region of Whitetail Mountains. It is unlocked after completing the main story mission A Right to Bear Arms.

The resistance calls and lets the player know that Jacob has a helicopter patrol roaming the region. The helicopters are in set of three. They can be taken out from the ground but most likely easier from the air. Helicopter with a full arsenal such as the Kaumbat R-31 is ideal. Taking out all three of Jacob’s patrolers will complete the mission.

5. Static Frequency

It takes place in Jacob Seed’s region of Whitetail Mountains. Players will need to liberate the PIN-K0 Radar Station to unlock this mission. The quest giver is a female resistance fighter.

After liberating the PIN-K0 Radio Station, there is still concern that the satellite dishes on the rooftops are still broadcasting to the enemy. The player is asked to destroy them. The mission is simple in that the player just needs to climb to the roofs and take the dishes out. Shooting them will not work, so use grenades or other explosives.

6. Shooting Gallery

To unlock this mission, players will first need to liberate the Whitetail Park Ranger Station. This is a timed shooting drill. The quest giver is a male Militia Captain.

7. Welcome Party

Players will need to have finished the main story mission A Dish Served Cold to unlock this mission. The quest giver is a female soldier on the roof of Baron Lumber Mill.

She will tell you about an incoming ambush that must be taken out. Both trucks have to be destroyed to complete the mission. Players will have about 30 seconds to gather ammunition, set mines, or whatever else they decide to do to prepare.

8. Nature Provides

It takes place at Bo’s Cave. Players will need to have the Grappling and Parachute (or Wingsuit) Perks. 

Bo will send the player out on a scavenging trip. To the southwest is a lake from which the player will need to collect bones. After that, climb to the top of the nearby mountain. This is where the grapple comes in. One of the gaps are too wide to jump and will require the parachute or wingsuit to cross it. Once at the top, collect feathers from an eagles nest. Once the feathers are collected, fast travel back to Bo.

9. Flavor Country

It takes place in Jacob Seed’s region of Whitetail Mountains west of Baron Lumber Mill in the Grill Streak. The quest giver is Chad Wolanski. Players will need to have completed A Dish Served Cold to unlock this mission.

Meet Chad at the Grill Streak. His grill just exploded and he is on fire. His meat is now ruined and he needs more. He asks The Junior Deputy to gather some roadkill deer meat and bring it to him. He will mark several spots on the player’s map. After finding deer in the related area run them over using an ATV. Skin them to gain the meat, then return to Chad. He will offer a follow-up mission – Grill Streak.

10. Grill Streak

It starts west of Baron Lumber Mill in Grill Streak. Players will need to have completed Flavor Country to unlock this mission. As with the previous mission, the kills must be done entirely with a vehicle to count.

After talking to Chad, the Bison locations will be marked on the player’s map. The Bison are a bit harder to kill than the deer were, so while killing it with an ATV will work, it will take several hits (20 or more). May want to try something larger, like the Death Wish truck. Having the Auto Repair perk could also come in handy here, as the vehicle players choose is apt to take some serious damage. Once the animals are dead, skin them for the meat. Return to Chad with 3 meats.
