In this guide, we’ll walk you through where to find Ida Rutledge, how to progress through the side quest “For Whom the Bridge Tolls” in The Outer Worlds 2.
Starting Location
To begin the “For Whom the Bridge Tolls” side quest, make your way to the Bridge of the Reverent. Once you arrive at the bridge, you’ll encounter Senior Warden Weintraut stationed there. Speak with her, and she’ll explain the situation: two traitors have fled, and she needs someone to bring them back. Accept her offer to locate the fugitives in exchange for free passage across the bridge and start the “For Whom the Bridge Tolls” quest.
Where to Find Ida Rutledge
To locate Ida Rutledge for the side quest “For Whom the Bridge Tolls,” you’ll need to travel to Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove, which is found just southwest of Fairfield. Refer to the map below.
When you arrive, you’ll see a cargo elevator beside the mountain. You can either repair the elevator with an Engineering skill level 3 or higher, or choose to climb up the mountain. Once you reach the top, approach the tower in the area. As you get close, Jackson Plum will fall from above and die on impact. Examine Jackson’s body to loot Double Jump (Thruster Boots)
After the cutscene, speak to the two Auntie’s Choice workers stuck on the top of the tower. Ask them about Ida Rutledge, and they’ll confirm that she has died.
For proof of Ida’s death, look to the conveyor belt to the left of Jackson’s corpse and pick up Ida’s severed arm. Once you’ve collected it, return to Senior Warden Weintraut to report her death.
