Elden Ring: Hornsent Questline Complete Guide
This guide shows the complete walkthrough of the Hornsent NPC questline in Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, released on 21st June 2023. Click here for a Video Walkthrough.
Step 1: Talk to Hornsent
Continue in the main quest until you reach Shadow Keep and get a notification that the Great Rune has been broken. Then go and talk to Hornsent near the Highroad Cross Grace Site as shown in the picture below.
Step 2: Talk to Leda
Talk to Leda standing next to the Highroad Cross Grace Site. Exhaust all the dialogues and suggest Hornsent’s name when you get the option as shown in the picture below.
Step 3: Rest and Talk to Leda Again
Rest at the grace site. Hornsent would be gone, leaving a map behind. Talk to Leda and exhaust all the dialogues. She will say that Hornsent would have gone to Sir Messmer.
Step 4: Assist Hornsent against Leda
Go to reach Shadow Keep Main Gate Plaza Grace Site as shown in the picture below. Then go out through the door on the west side as shown in the second picture below. Climb up the wooden stairs outside as shown in the third picture below to reach the upper floor. Then climb up another wooden stair to reach the dining hall.
Enter the Dining Hall and come out from the other side to reach the roof. You will see several boats on the roof. Go to the eastern edge of the roof. There you will find red and golden symbols as shown in the picture below. The red symbol is to assist Leda against Hornsent. Choosing this will end the questline here and you will get Hornsent’s Gear now. Choose the golden symbol to assist Hornsent against Leda. This will progress the questline further.
Step 5: Summon Hornsent against Messmer Boss Fight
Go to the location shown in the picture below for Messmer Boss Fight. You can summon Hornsent to assist you during the fight.
Step 6: Talk to Hornsent
After the Messmer boss fight, rest at the Grace Site. This will make Hornsent spawn near the Grace Site as shown in the picture below. Talk to Hornsent and exhaust all the dialogues.
Step 7: Defeat Hornsent in the Church of Bud
Go to the Church of Bud as shown in the pictures below. When you are climbing the stairs at the marked location, you will be invaded by Hornsent. On defeating him, you will get the Falx Sword, Caterpillar Mask, Braided Cord Robe, Braided Arm Wraps, and Soiled Loincloth. This completes the questline.
