How To Catch Sandstar, Ember Rufflizard, Rime Beetle & Gillopod – Monster Hunter Wilds

If you’re diving into Monster Hunter Wilds and want to track down rare endemic life like the Sandstar, Ember Rufflizard, Rime Beetle, and Gillopod, you’re in the right place. How to Catch Sandstar

You will get the objective to capture a Sandstar during the side quest ‘Samin’s Special Research Report‘.

The Sandstar can be found in Area 13 of the Windward Plains. The Sandstar only appears in the area at night. If it doesn’t spawn, try fast traveling to another location before returning to Area 13 to reset its appearance.

Catching the Sandstar is very tricky! No matter how slowly you move or what special gear you wear, this sharp-eyed creature will always see and hear you. As soon as it notices you, it will zoom away super fast, making it hard to catch.

How to Catch Ember Rufflizard

The Ember Rufflizard has the classic shape of a lizard. It is well-adapted to scorching, extreme environments and is most commonly found in volcanic regions. The Ember Rufflizard can be found in the volcanic region of Area 15 in the Oilwell Basin.

When you see an Ember Rufflizard, get your capture net ready and move toward it slowly. You can also use the Ghillie Mantle to help you sneak up without being noticed. Ghillie Mantle makes it easier to catch the Ember Rufflizard without scaring it away!

How to Catch Rime Beetle

Rime Beetle is well-adapted to cold and extreme environments and is most commonly found in snow regions. You will get the objective to capture a Rime Beetle during the side quest ‘Samin’s Special Research Report‘. You can only catch Rime Beetles using a Capture Net around Area 3 in Iceshard Cliffs.

Here are some other key locations within the Iceshard Cliffs where Rime Beetles can be found: Area 11, Area 13 & Area 2.

How to Catch Gillopod

You will get the objective to capture a Gillipod during the side quest ‘Dareel’s Special Research Report’. Gillopod can be found in Area 8 of the Ruins of Wyveria. The Gillopod spawns in the area during the morning when the Plenty Environment setting is active.

The Gillopod can be found attached to walls, often in the company of another creature named Pillopod. Gillopod creatures are easily recognizable by their distinctive blue color and rectangular jelly shape.

Note: Gillopods a rectangle-shaped jelly-like creatures that cling to walls and are often found alongside Pillopods. Their similar appearances can easily cause confusion, making it difficult to distinguish between the two. Gillopod have distinctive blue color.
