How to Complete Find the Mushroom Picker in Baldur’s Gate 3 | Save Baelen

Talk to Derryth in Myconid Colony

Talk to Derryth Bonecloak in the western part of Myconid Colony within the Underdark. Refer to her location on the map below. During your interaction, she will reveal that her spouse has encountered difficulties during a mushroom-gathering event. She asks for your help in locating him and returning him home.

Where to Find Baelen Bonecloak in the Underdark

Baelen Bonecloak can be found in Dread Hollow, which is located in the northwest part of the Underdark Map. From the Decrepit Village, head northwest. Then, look for some Knotted roots and use them to reach beneath the huge tree. Here you will find a cavern filled with Bibberbangs mushrooms.

Keep an eye out for Baelen in the back as you approach the patch of bibberbang mushrooms. He’ll instruct you to stop moving and explain that he’s caught in the patch and can’t get out without setting them off. He goes on to tell that his bag contains a Scroll of Misty Step which he could utilize to escape if he could reach it.

To begin, go to Turn-Based mode so your party does not follow you. Use Misty Step Spell to teleport to the little open space to the left of Baelen where you’ll find his backpack on the floor. If you don’t have Misty Step, choose a character with a long dash range or a long jump ability.

To get him out, throw Baelen’s bag towards him. The backpack contains a spell that will aid him escape. Finally, make your way back and speak with him.

Talk to him and you will ultimately find that Baelen is looking for a glowing blue plant called Noblestalk. Finally, return to Myconid Colony in the Underdark and speak with Derryth Bonecloak to complete the quest.
