Before you dive into the quest, make sure you head up onto the rocks in the area and activate the fast travel point there.
Once you have the fast travel point unlocked, the trial is actually right next to it. The tricky part is that the entrance is tucked behind a cluster of rocks, which makes it easy to miss depending on which direction you are coming from.
To find it, drop down from the fast travel point and look for a staircase carved into the rocks. Head down the staircase to find the entrance at the base of the mountain.
