In Pokémon Legends Z-A, Camerupt makes a fiery return and players can even unlock its powerful Mega Evolution form. This guide explains where to find Numel, how to evolve it into Camerupt, and the steps required to trigger Mega Camerupt during battle.
Starting Location
To unlock the “Show Me a Mega Camerupt” side mission, you’ll first need to progress through the main story until you reach Main Mission 14: Reaching Rank E. Once the side quest becomes available, visit the NPC Vernal, who is found just south of the Pokémon Center on the Vernal Avenue (Northwest of Wild Zone 1).
Catch a Numel and Evolve into Camerupt
To obtain Camerupt, you first need to catch a Numel, which can be found spawning in Wild Zone 8 (Jaune Plaza).
After catching one, simply train Numel to Level 33 to evolve it into Camerupt.

Once Numel evolves into Camerupt, head to the designated NPC to start the battle. Before the fight, equip Camerupt with the Cameruptite Stone.
During the battle, use Camerupt to trigger its Mega Evolution, completing the Mega Camerupt transformation
