Chromite is one of the most important resources introduced in Palworld 1.0. It’s used for advanced crafting, so you’ll eventually need a good amount of it. Unlike regular ore, Chromite is hidden underground, meaning you can’t simply stumble across it while exploring. This article will guide the player on how to farm Chromite in Palworld
Best Chromite Location
The best place to farm Chromite is around the Scorched Hills region. This area has the highest concentration of Chromite deposits, making it the most reliable farming spot once you’re ready to start collecting the resource.

Unlock the Metal Detector
Before heading out, it’s highly recommended that you reach Level 58 and unlock the Metal Detector. The Metal Detector is the easiest way to locate hidden Chromite deposits buried beneath the ground.

How the Metal Detector Works
Once equipped, the Metal Detector displays a flashing ring that helps guide you toward nearby Chromite.
As you move closer to a deposit:
- The flashing becomes faster.
- The detection circle grows wider and pulses more slowly.
- The indicator changes color as you get closer.
- Green: Chromite is nearby.
- Yellow/Beige: You’re getting closer.
- Red: You’re almost directly above the deposit.
When the indicator turns red, switch to your mining tool and dig up the Chromite.

Use Smokie to Find Chromite
If you have Smokie, it can make Chromite farming even easier. Equip the Smokie Harness that unlocks Smokie’s special digging ability.

When activated, Smokie Dig automatically searches the nearby area for hidden Chromite deposits. This makes Smokie one of the best companions for Chromite farming.
