If you want to stay strong in Elden Ring: Nightreign, upgrading your weapon early is super important. Instead of wasting your coins on expensive Smithing Stones, this guide will show you how to find them fast – for free! You’ll learn where to go, what enemies to fight, and how to make your weapon stronger so you can beat tough bosses and level up faster.
Understanding Smithing Stones and Weapon Tiers
At the start of the game, you’ll be using common (white-tier) weapons. These can be upgraded to rare (blue-tier) using standard Smithing Stones, and further to epic (purple-tier) using advanced Smithing Stones. Each upgrade brings a substantial damage boost, allowing you to dispatch enemies faster and progress more efficiently.
Note: If your weapon is still white-tier, you’ll need both a standard and an epic Smithing Stone to upgrade to purple. First upgrade to blue, then to purple.
Where to Find Smithing Stones
The most reliable and consistent place to find Smithing Stones is the mines scattered across the map. These areas are rich in crafting resources and always contain both basic and advanced smithing materials.
- Normal Smithing Stones can be found in chests or as general loot throughout the mine.
- Epic (Purple) Smithing Stones are guaranteed drops from mine bosses.
Defeating one of these bosses always rewards you with a purple-tier Smithing Stone.
Where to Upgrade Your Weapons
Once you’ve gathered your stones, you’ll need to visit a Smithing Station. These stations allow you to apply your upgrades quickly and efficiently.
