Looking to get the Legendary Imbued Sword St. Mihai in The Blood of Dawnwalker? You’ll need to complete the Forge It Anew quest and collect the required Sword Shards to unlock this powerful weapon. This guide will show you where to find the shards and how to obtain the Legendary Imbued Sword St. Mihai step by step.
Step 1: Shard 1/3 Location
First, find 3 Sword Shards. Each shard is found by completing one of the three sub-quests in the Forge It Anew questline.
The Forge It Anew: Do Not Disturb is the first sub-quest of the questline Forge in Anew. It can be started by finding a hand symbol on a rock north of Maragir Wealds. Check the map to find the exact location.
Investigate The Campsite
Once the quest starts, follow the trail of hand symbols. They will lead you to a bloody campsite north of Maragir Wealds. When you reach the camp, activate Focus Mode to investigate the area. First, examine the campfire. Then, look for a book lying below another hand symbol.
After checking these clues, you’ll find a trail of blood on the ground. It looks like someone was dragged away from the camp.
Follow the blood trail until you reach a cave guarded by several Kobolds. Defeat all the Kobolds outside the cave, then enter the cave to continue.
Clear out the enemies in the cave so you can safely explore the area. Once the cave is clear, use Focus Mode to investigate the mural on the wall. After examining the mural, check the broken cross symbol nearby.
Finally, pick up the Sword Shard. Once you collect it, the investigation is complete.
Step 2: Shard 2/3 Location (Forge It Anew: Hostile Takeover )
This quest marker will lead you to a cave east of St. Tyna’s Grove. Once you reach the cave, enter it and use Focus Mode to investigate the area.
Look for the yellow-highlighted bodies and inspect each one.
After checking all the clues, head over to the nest and loot it. However, you won’t find the Sword Shard there. The soldiers have already taken the shard, so the quest marker will update and point you toward an enemy camp.
Follow the new quest marker to reach the camp.
Once you arrive, carefully enter the tent on the left side. Inside the tent, look for a small chest sitting on top of a wooden barrel. Open the chest to collect the Sword Shard.
Step 3: Shard 3/3 Location (Forge It Anew: Executive Order)
The Forge It Anew: Executive Order is another sub-quest of the questline. Head to the quest marker west of Svartrau City and north of Rockfalls. When you reach the marked area, look around for a cave entrance. Look for a white “X” symbol painted on the wall above the entrance.
The entrance is low, so you’ll need to crouch to get inside. Once you enter the cave, continue forward until you encounter the boss Munch-Munch. Defeat the boss before continuing deeper into the cave.
After the fight, head toward the end of the cave. There, you’ll find a nest that you can loot. Search the nest to collect the Sword Shard.
Step 4: Start the Quest Night Terrors
This quest only shows up at night. Head to the courtyard north of the Svartrau City Cathedral. You’ll hear some noise coming from underground, and this will automatically start the quest.
Locate the source of the howling
In the courtyard on the north side of Svartrau Cathedral, make your way to the well. This objective can only be completed at night, so make sure you visit the area after nightfall. Once you reach the well, inspect it to trigger a short cutscene. During the cutscene, Coen will remove the wooden boards covering the well.
Explore the bottom of the well
Drop down into the well, then crouch to make your way into the cave below. In the next section, use Focus Mode to spot a corpse marked in yellow. Check the pouch on the right side of the body. The pouch has a note inside. This automatically ends the quest and kicks off the next quest.
Step 5: Broken Sword of St. Mihai
Next, you need to do A Monk and a Saint side quest. This automatically starts upon completing the Night Terrors quest.
Go to Svartrau Cathedral
As the quest starts, you will find yourself inside a cave. Defeat the Kobold enemies, then use Focus Mode to spot the yellow-highlighted stone. Push it out of the way to clear the path and exit the cave.
Search for Saint Mihai’s symbol on cathedral grounds
As you exit the cave, you will find yourself in the northwestern part of the cathedral. Clear the guards in the area. Then use the Focus Mode to see 5 graves. You can interact with the grave to see the symbols. However, you do not yet have enough information to know which symbol belongs to Mihai. You will need to identify the correct symbol before you can open the grave.
Search the courtyard
To get the right symbol, you need to get inside the cathedral through the tower opening on the roof, since every door is locked. Head up to the rooftop once night falls, then use Shadowstep to scale the walls and reach the tower entrance. From there, use Clawride to drop down through the open tower and into the cathedral below.
Once you’re inside, the game will prompt you to investigate the ceiling, the altar, and a book. Inspect each one to move the quest forward.
Investigate the cathedral from the scaffolding
Climb the scaffolding on the left and check out the fresco at the very top. Also, inspect the nearby book to find the correct symbol on Mihai’s armor.
Enter the crypt
Return to the five graves in the courtyard north of the cathedral. The correct grave is the second grave from the right. Inspect the symbol on it, and Coen will automatically open the grave, revealing an underground entrance.
Explore the crypt
Head down into the crypt and go through the first door on your left. Inside, switch on Focus Mode to track down where the noise is coming from. The left wall will light up yellow. Inspect it, and Coen will break the wall to find Saint Mihai.
Defeat Saint Mihai
This starts a boss fight against “Mihai, Patron of the Cathedral.” Beat him, and you’ll get the Broken Sword of St. Mihai. This ends the quest.
Step 6: Blacksmith Uriah
Once you have collected all three Sword Shards and the Broken Sword, head northwest of the Briar Sloughs and find the Uriash Hermit. He will then restore and upgrade the Broken Sword, turning it into the Restored Sword of St. Mihai.
Step 7: Perform Ritual to get Imbued Sword of St Mihai
With the Restored Sword of St. Mihai in your possession, head northwest to the location mentioned by the blacksmith to continue the “Forge It Anew” side quest. Once you reach the area, look for the vines blocking the way and cut through them to enter the cave.
Inside the cave, follow the path deeper into the area until you reach the temple. Once there, perform the ritual as instructed. After completing the ritual, you’ll receive the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai as your reward, completing the final part of the quest.
