This article will guide you on How to Recruit Minsc in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3). Minsc can be recruited during Act III and is one of the 10 companions and also the very last one whom you can recruit in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Find Minsc in the Counting House
You can locate Minsc in the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate in Act 3. Start Jaheira’s quest “High Harper” and travel to the Counting House in the Lower City.
Speak with Head Clerk Meadhoney at the first-floor counter. Speak with him about Lord Stone, and he’ll inform you that Head Banker could have taken a customer with a similar name to the Vault. Pass the [Indimitation] check successfully to obtain the Vault Pass.
Talk to the guard at the entrance to show them your temporary vault pass and they will let you inside.
Go downstairs and present the guards with the temporary vault pass again before entering the vault. Go through the passageway to reach The Counting House Vault. Counting House Vault Door has nine panels on the floor and requires you to step on them in the right order.
To find the answer, you need to go to the second floor of the Counting House, lockpick your way into the heavily guarded door, and find a passcode. The passcode is 1356.
To utilize the code buttons, players must first ungroup and use one of their party members. This will prevent the other Baldur’s Gate 3 companions from following them around and accidentally pressing one of the floor buttons. Then, in this order, click the following four buttons:
- Button on the upper left
- The button in the upper right corner
- The middle button
- Right-middle button
After entering the vault, try to find Minsc who is now apparently working for fake Jaheira indirectly serving the Absolute. It is up to you to protect Minsc from the Absolute now if you want to recruit him.
Defeat the cultist and then enter the Vault.
Find Stone Lord in the Sewers
Enter the Manhole at Bloomridge Park in the Lower City Sewers. Head northwest to reach the Abandoned Cistern puzzle area. Minsc is found in the western part of the sewers. Go to the location marked on your map and you reach the Abandoned Cistern, where you must unlock the Sluice Gate.
Once through the Sluice gate, you will find Minsc talking with the fake Jaheira and a Zhentarim. After some discussion, fighting will begin.
Save Minsc
If you kill Minsc during the fight, then Jaheira will leave the team.
To recruit him, you must first lower his health to less than five and then strike him with a non-lethal blow. Check your spell book to see which characters have access to “Toggle to Non-Lethal Attack” from the passive tab, as illustrated in the image below.

Recruit Minsc
You will be able to communicate with him. Persuade him not to kill Jaheira when he tries to assault her and inform Minsc that the other Jaheira was a fake. Finally, he’ll start sprinting to find his Hamster. Follow him and you can hire him to his Hamster and then recruit him.
