The Alexandra Monastery in The Outer Worlds 2 has a tricky challenge called the Observatory Puzzle. At first, all the spinning planets and shiny dials might look confusing, but once you understand how the orrery works, the solution becomes clear. In this guide, we’ll show you step-by-step how to solve the puzzle and unlock the secret room to get rewards in The Outer Worlds 2.
As you play the mission “On the Trail of the Traitor”, you’ll visit the Alexandra Monastery in Golden Ridge to find Seer Wiley. Before you meet her, you’ll see a terminal that needs a three-digit code to unlock.

The device also gives you a clue to find the solution: The riddle is as follows:
Look to the orrery in front of the Observatory to solve the riddle.
The first dial should be set to the number of moons that orbit Elysium.
The second dial should be set to the number of moons that orbit between Dorado and Elysium.
The final dial should be set to the number of times Eden orbits Elysium before Praetor and Cloister complete a single rotation.
The Solution
- First dial = 4 (four moons orbiting Elysium)
- Second dial = 1 (one moon between Dorado and Elysium)
- Third dial = 4 (Eden completes four orbits of Elysium before Praetor & Cloister complete one rotation)
- So the code you should input is “4 : 1 : 4”

Go back to the terminal and enter the code 4-1-4. This will make the wall next to the terminal slide open, revealing a secret locker hidden behind it.
Rewards
Inside the locker, you’ll find:
- 1x Pitchball Card: Feargus Urquhart
- 1343x Bit Cartridge
- 5x Scrap Metal
