How to Start Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree
Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree released on 21st June 2023. To access the DLC, you will need to defeat the option boss Mohg, Lord of Blood in Mohgwyn Palace. This guide will show how to reach Mohg and how to access the DLC area.
Step 1: Reach Mohgwyn Palace
Mohgwyn Palace is a secret underground area in Elden Ring. There are two ways you can get there. The easier method is by doing Varre’s questline. The other method is by using a teleporter. This guide shows how you can reach Mohgwyn using both methods.
Method 1: Reaching Mohgwyn Palace by using Pureblood Knight’s Medal
During Varre’s questline, you will get the Pureblood Knight’s Medal. You can use it to get teleported to Mohgwyn Palace.
Simply open your inventory and use the Pureblood Knight’s Medal. This will teleport you to Mohgwyn Palace.
As you get teleported to Mohgwyn Palace, climb up the stairs straight ahead and collect the map there from a corpse as shown below.
Method 2: Reaching Mohgwyn Palace through a Teleporter
To get to the teleporter, first, you will need to get to the secret area of Consecrated Snowfield. Find the two Haligtree Secret Medallions and use them on the Grand Lift of Rold. This will take you to the secret area of Consecrated Snowfield. After coming out, go north to reach the Inner Consecrated Snowfield Site of Grace. From there, go west to reach the Teleporter on the west end of the area shown in the picture below. Use the teleporter and you will be transferred to a cave. Walk ahead and exit the cave to reach Mohgwyn Palace.
Step 2: Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood optional Boss
After reaching Mohgwyn Palace, make your way to Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum at the location shown in the picture below. Collect the map there from a corpse. Then proceed ahead and keep climbing the stairs till you reach the top. Enter the building there as shown in the second picture below.
After entering the building, take the path going left. Then proceed in a linear path. Exit the building to reach the next Lost Grace, Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint, as shown in the picture below. Near this Lost Grace, you will find an elevator. Take this elevator to reach Mohg, Lord of Blood optional Boss as shown in the second picture below. Defeat him and leave the area.
Step 3: Defeat Radahn
Challenge and defeat General Radahan in Redmane Castle, which is in the southeast portion of Caelid as shown in the picture below. The trigger to get Radahan to accept your challenge is by defeating a certain number of bosses. The number of bosses you need to defeat for Radahan to accept your challenge is not yet clear. So, if Radahan does not accept your challenge, then you will need to defeat more bosses.
Step 4: Reach Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Location
Go back to Mohgwyn palace at the location where you defeated Mohg, Lord of Blood boss as shown in the picture below. There you will find a NPC named Leda as shown in the second picture below. If she does not appear then you won’t be able to access the DLC area. Talk to Leda and then touch the withered arm as shown in the third picture below. Then you will be able to proceed to the Realm of Shadow.
