In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players can switch between two main characters: Naoe ( Shinobi) and Yasuke (The powerful samurai). However, Yasuke is not available from the start of the game—you need to complete certain quests before you can play as him. In this guide, we will show you step-by-step how to unlock Yasuke, when you can start playing as him, and how to switch between characters.
How to unlock Yasuke
You can unlock Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows during Act 1 of the story. Follow the main story path to complete assassination missions of The Golden Teppo & The Wounded. Below are the missions related to their assassination.
- The Fatherless Monk – The Wounded
- Searching Sakai – The Golden Teppo
Next, continue to follow the main mission to reach the Belly of the Beast quest. At the end of this quest, you’ll finally get the chance to play as Yasuke for the first time and unlock Yasuke.
How to switch to Yasuke character
Once you unlock Yasuke, switching between him and Naoe is easy.
Using the Inventory
Open the inventory menu, find the button at the bottom of the screen, and press it to switch characters. Hold the button to confirm.
Using the World Map
When fast-traveling to a viewpoint, you can choose to switch to the other character before teleporting.
Note: Some missions can only be played with a certain character and the game will automatically switch to that particular character when you start the missions.
