This article will guide you on how to “Untangle Founts of Light and Dark” for Exegesis Quest in Destiny 2
When you first enter the puzzle area, there will be a dark portal to your right and a light portal to your left. There is also a locked door on your left. Refer to the image below.
Identify Puzzle Areas and Portals
Let’s call the path with the locked door and the light portal as path 1 and the one on the right is path 2. There are two more portals at the end. Refer to the image.
- Portal 1: Light portal in Path 1 on the floor
- Portal 2: Dark portal in Path 1 on the wall
- Portal 3: Light portal in Path 2 on the wall
- Portal 4: Dark portal in Path 2 on the floor
Defeat the sword-wielding enemy to obtain light motes.
Place the mote in Portal 2 (the dark portal on the wall in Path 1). This will cause an explosion and reveal a ledge with a crystal.
Take this crystal back to the locked door. Place it in the slot next to the locked door and open it.
Go inside and retrieve a shield.
How to Collect Motes:
- When you defeat sword guys while holding the shield, they drop Light Motes. This can be used to activate the light portals.
- When you defeat sword guys without the shield, they drop Dark Motes. This can be used to activate the dark portals.
Order in which Portal should be Activate:
Activate the light portal with light motes and the dark portal with dark motes.
- Portal 3: Light portal in Path 2 on the wall
- Portal 4: Dark portal in Path 2 on the floor
- Portal 1: Light portal in Path 1 on the floor
- Portal 2: Dark portal in Path 1 on the wall
The final door will open once all portals are activated correctly with the appropriate motes.
