This article provides a detailed step-by-step guide on completing the objective “Investigate the Abandoned Asteroid Mine” of the mission “Maintaining the Edge” in the game Starfield.
As the mission progresses, you’ll be asked to go to an abandoned asteroid mine near planet Bonner of the Sakharov star system.
After arriving in Sakharov, enter the Eklund mining site through the secure door then go downstairs to find an Emergency Cuttable Wall.
Equip the Cutter from your weapons inventory and fire it at the four joints in the corners to open this door. If you don’t have a cutter then you can find one inside the left box. Refer to the below image.
Go down the metal ramp and then the elevator shaft. In this new area, you’ll find another Secure Access door which is Locked.
Follow the wire connected to the door up the ramp and into the control room. Defeat the robot dog and interact with the Remote Security Door Computer
Unlock the computer using a Digipick and then select the Open Door option to open the Secure Access door that you found earlier.
Continue down into the mine until you reach a big crystalline area. Head to the right and cross a crystal bridge to the cave’s lowest floor.
Pass through the “Secure Access door” and proceed down to an elevator.
Defeat all enemies and then climb the crystal tower. Open another cuttable wall door.
Inside the tower, you will find Maya Cruz! Kill her or save her life, and take her Encrypted Slate.
