Niles: Do More Harm Walkthrough | Outer Worlds 2

Pressing Cares is a companion quest for Niles in the Outer Worlds 2. This article will guide the reader on how to complete the quest “Do More Harm” in the game The Outer Worlds 2.

Starting Location

Prerequisite: Before starting “Do More Harm”, you must complete Niles’ earlier companion quest – Pressing Cares.

After completing the earlier companion mission, “Pressing Cares”, progress through the main story until Praetor and Cloister become available destinations on your ship’s nav computer.

When you set a course for Praetor, head down to the Incognito’s loading bay. There, Niles will approach you and explain that Zebulon (Zeb) has contacted him again, asking to meet at the Tomb of the Matriarch on Praetor. Agree to help him start the quest.

Reaching The Tomb Of The Matriarch

After landing on Praetor, follow the main road north until you reach the Tomb of the Matriarch at the end. Be careful, as you might run into wild animals or Scrappers along the way.

When you get there, you’ll find Zeb waiting outside. He’ll tell you that he thinks there’s a secret room hidden under the tombs of the Matriarch, where the Protectorate is keeping something important. Zeb wants to find out what they’re hiding. He will warn you that this is a one-way mission. Once you enter the tomb, there’s no turning back

Infiltrating The Tomb Of The Matriarch

Once inside, you’ll find an armor display stand. Go behind the display stand and look below the large window to see two enemies.

Look at the wall to the left of the big window, and you’ll spot a control panel. You need either Hack 9 or Hack 5 with The Good Subject’s Guide to Electrical Systems to use it. Activate the panel to turn on the security system, which will automatically eliminate the two enemies in the room below.

Now you can take either path (door) to reach the central room below. Defeat and loot the enemies there to find the Museum Docent for the Golden Shroud Display Key. You can use this key to unlock the armor stand display near the entrance and claim the unique Golden Shroud armor.

Zeb will then enter the room and pull a hidden lever at the far end of the central room to open a secret door.  Go through the doorway and follow the corridor to the left to find Head Curator Arnaux.

The Fate of Head Curator Arnaux

At this point in the quest, you must decide what happens to Head Curator Arnaux, and your choice will shape how both Niles and Zeb respond to you.

  • Let Arnaux live: Niles appreciates your compassion, and Zeb reluctantly agrees to let Arnaux go free.
  • Let Zeb kill Arnaux: Zeb executes Arnaux without hesitation.
  • [Attack] Kill Arnaux yourself: You personally kill Arnaux, but Niles strongly disapproves of your decision.

Each outcome reflects your moral stance: mercy earns Niles’ respect, while aggression strengthens Zeb’s bond but strains your bond with Niles.
