This article will guide the player on how to complete the quest “Ratt’s Race” and find Peculiar Gem & Peculiar Key in WOW: The War Within.
Prerequisite
Complete the world event achievement ‘Assistant to the Assistant Guest Relations Manager‘ and ‘Crate Insurance Agent’ by collecting 6 crates to get Azeroth’s Greatest Detective achievement. This should give you the title ‘Detective’.
Starting Location
Next, proceed to Dornogal to locate an NPC called Dalaran Survivor. Ensure to equip the Detective title before initiating a conversation with the Dalaran Survivor.
Location: Azeroth > Khaz Algar > Isle of Dorn > Dornogal
Ask the NPC to select the dialogue “You can tell me, I’m a Detective” to start the quest for Ratt’s Race.
Ratt’s Race Walkthrough
To track Rutt, head to Khaz Algar. In Khaz Algar go to Azj-kahet and proceed to the cave at the southernmost point of the map, as indicated below.
Inside the cave, move to the left-hand side to find a circle of rotten mushrooms. The first clue is situated in the center of the mushrooms.
The second clue can be found atop a cliff outside the City of Threads ( in Azj-kahet area). This location is in the northwestern area near the city.
For the third clue go to the “Hallowfall” in Khaz Algar. You will find a small lake or pond of water at the location marked on the map. Swim to the bottom of the lake to find the clue.
Ratt’s & Peculiar Gem Location
Your next objective of the quest is to confront Ratt’s. Go to Faerin’s Advantage in Azj-kahet area. Enter the underground cave marked at the location.
Inside look for some holes on the left side and then jump into the middle hole in the wall. This will lead you to a hidden void pool where you can confront Rutt’s.
He takes minimal damage before teleporting through the wall, leaving an item behind on the floor—the Peculiar Gem.
Peculiar Key Location
To find the location of the Inert Peculiar Key, start at Tanaris in the Caverns of Time. From the Caverns of Time tent, head west into Un’Goro Crater. Players need to fly toward the giant sword in the ground.
After reaching Un’Goro Crater, proceed to the northern side of the map, just outside a cave.
At this location, you will find a broken tree. Use the Torch of Pyreth to reveal a secret Inert Peculiar Key.
