Salao the Old Fisherman Quest Guide – Lies of P: Overture DLC

Salao the Old Fisherman is an NPC quest in the Lies of P: Overture DLC. This step-by-step guide will show you how to complete Salao the Old Fisherman’s Quest with Both Endings.

Talk to Salao the Old Fisherman

Salao, the Old Fisherman can be found at the Shipwreck Exterior fast travel point. Head left from the fast travel point to find Salao resting near a monster fish.

Speak with him and explain how everyone thought he would never catch a fish, but he proved them wrong. He tells how he battled a mighty fish for days and finally caught it with his bare hands.

Get Beer for Salao

He’ll ask you to go to the village, find an NPC named Manoline, and tell him that Salao caught the fish. He’ll also ask you to bring back the special beer he’s been saving to celebrate his win.

Fast travel to the Krat Lighthouse and head up the spiral staircase. Enter the first room you come across, and grab the Young Fisherman’s Letter and the Old Bottle of Beer from the shelf inside.

Give Salao the beer

Once you’ve collected the beer, return to the Shipwreck Exterior and give it to Salao. He’ll ask if you told the villagers and Manoline about his catch.

Lie (everyone was impressed with your catch)

You’ll get two dialogue choices: “Everyone in the village is dead” or “Everyone was impressed with your catch.” If you choose the second option, Salao will proudly say he caught the fish to teach Manoline a life lesson.

After the conversation, Salao will pass away, and you’ll receive the Fisherman’s Weathered Key.

Explore the Fisherman’s hut

You can go to Salao’s house near the Krat Lighthouse and use the Fisherman’s Weathered Key to enter. Inside, you’ll find the Old Fisherman’s Letter resting on his bed.

Tell the truth (everyone in the village is dead)

You can choose to tell him the truth—that everyone in the village is dead. He falls silent and says, “Is that so? May the poor boy and the villagers rest in peace.” You won’t receive Fisherman’s Weathered Key.
