This step-by-step guide will show you what happens if you LIE about Vae Victis or EXPOSE Vae Victis in mission A Legacy Forged in Starfield.

Before making this crucial decision, you would have already had a prior meeting with Vae Victis, during which he presented an alternative for your consideration to frame Doctor Reginald Orlase for his own actions. It’s imperative to attentively listen to his proposal and thoughtfully assess the available choices. It’s worth noting that you can make this decision regardless of whether you had previously informed Hadrian about Vae Victis’s survival.

In both scenarios, you receive a reward of 18,800 credits and are granted citizenship in New Atlantis. However, if you choose to mislead the cabinet by recounting a fabricated narrative, Vae Victis remains alive and effectively designates you as his operative in Starfield. Surprisingly, despite the [Lie] option seemingly suggesting a connection to Vae Victis with the evidence, it is revealed that the former officer had actually intended to frame Doctor Reginald Orlase for his own actions.

Lie about Vae Victis

Simply stick to your fabricated narrative, insisting that it was Orlase, and the authorities will readily accept your account without the need for a persuasion check. This will keep your connection with Victis intact, and you’ll engage in an ongoing series of missions within the Preventive Action quest. In these missions, Victis assigns you targets he deems worthy of elimination.

Usually, you’ll encounter a single, less formidable target situated on a planet or in a nearby solar system, often accompanied by more formidable mercenaries or pirates. The financial reward for dispatching each target is relatively modest, averaging around 2,000 credits per mission. However, the incentive lies in the potential for substantial loot, especially given the challenging battles you’re guaranteed to face.

Expose Vae Victis (Tell the Truth)

If you choose to reveal the truth, in keeping with the decision made by my colleague Thomas Cunliffe, you will still receive your compensation and citizenship. However, Vae Victis will disappear from his confinement in Subsection Seven, leaving behind a message for you and allowing you access to his quarters. This outcome, while potentially less thrilling, portrays Vae Victis more like a figure reminiscent of Hannibal Lecter, and it aligns with a more straightforward approach in your dealings with Hadrian.
