The cyberdeck upgrades are optional but very important to improve the hacking ability of your character in The Ascent. By obtaining cyberdeck upgrades you’ll be able to hack more and more doors, chests, ATMs, Vending machines, turrets, etc. You begin the game with TA Lifestyle CyberDeck Upgrade. As you progress through the game you’ll come across 11 more cyberdeck upgrades. (NOTE: You’ll need 9 of these upgrades to max out your cyberdeck). This article will show you the location of all the 11 cyberdeck upgrades in The Ascent.
Cyberdeck Upgrade #1: Ice Kicker (Cluster 13)
Ice Kicker is the first cyberdeck upgrade that you can obtain in the game, after reaching Cluster 13 (Tier: Warrens). This cyberdeck upgrade is located in the northwest corner of Cluster 13 behind the Armor Shop. Take the stairs on the left side of the Armor Shop and reach the balcony at the very end of the alley. You’ll find the Ice Kicker Cyberdeck upgrade there. Your cyberdeck will be automatically upgraded after you pick this upgrade.
Cyberdeck Upgrade #2: Peacemaker CD (No Man’s Land)
This cyberdeck upgrade is in No Man’s Land (Tier: Warrens). You’ll discover the area ‘No Man’s Land’ during the Main Mission Mutual Dependencies. Check out the images below to see the location of the 2nd cyberdeck upgrade.
Cyberdeck Upgrade #3: Icepick (Black Lake Towers)
This cyberdeck upgrade is in Coder’s Cove in Black Lake Towers (Tier: Warrens). You’ll reach Coder’s Cove to meet Poone’s hacker friend ‘Noghead’ as part of the Main Mission Trading Places. The cyberdeck upgrade is just outside Noghead’s office in Coder’s Cove. You’ll have to visit Coder’s Cove once again during the Main Mission Data Miner. Cyberdeck Upgrade #4: Visitor (Cosmodrome)
This cyberdeck upgrade is in the northwest part of Cosmodrome (Tier: Highstreet). There are 2 treasure chest icons in the northwest part of Cosmodrome. One of these chests has the cyberdeck upgrade. You’ll have to hack through a couple of ICE-1 doors to get to the chest. You’ll discover Cosmodrome during the Main Mission Trading Places. Cyberdeck Upgrade #5: Plug (dNexus)
This cyberdeck upgrade is in dNexus (Tier: Deepstink). You’ll reach dNexus during the Main Mission Data Miner. The cyberdeck upgrade is in the AG DATA VAULT part (map not available for this part) of dNexus. Take the elevator on the north side of dNexus to reach AG Data Vault. Cyberdeck Upgrade #6: Manta D (Corpzone)
This cyberdeck upgrade is in Corpzone (Tier: Highstreet). You’ll discover Corpzone during the Main Mission Foreign Code. There are 2 treasure chests in the southwest part of Corpzone. One of these chests has the cyberdeck upgrade. The chest containing the cyberdeck upgrade has ICE-1 lock. Check out the images below to see the location of the 6th cyberdeck upgrade.
Cyberdeck Upgrade #7: Diva (The Glut)
This cyberdeck upgrade is in The Glut (Tier: Highstreet). the building containing the cyberdeck upgrade can be accessed during the Side Mission Prison Break. Talk to Aleks (an NPC standing on the western edge of The Node) to start the side mission. Aleks will ask you to destroy the Mech. The cyberdeck upgrade is inside the same building where you find the Mech. It’s on the table at the western corner of the building. Cyberdeck Upgrade #8: The Arcade (Nitroad)
This cyberdeck upgrade is in Nitroad (Tier: Warrens). The cyberdeck is in the red chest inside Storage 16B. Storage 16B’s door has an ICE-2 lock. Although you discover Nitroad quite early, during the Main Mission Trading Places, you’ll be able to get this cyberdeck upgrade after you acquire the ICE-2 door hacking ability. Cyberdeck Upgrade #9: Ghost of Veles (Lanier’s Apartment)
This cyberdeck upgrade is inside the security room in Lanier’s Apartment (map not available). Lanier’s Apartment is to the north of Blossom Hill (Tier: Warrens). You’ll have to visit Lanier’s Apartment as part of the main mission Trace Protocol. During the mission, you’ll have to hack into the security room to access the surveillance system where you’ll find the cyberdeck upgrade lying on the floor (very hard to miss). Cyberdeck Upgrade #10: in exMat Lab
This cyberdeck upgrade is inside exMat Lab (map not available) in RezDev (Tier: Highstreet). You’ll have to visit exMat as part of the main mission Trace Protocol. During the mission, you’ll have to access the exMat Lab Mainframe. The cyberdeck upgrade is kept above the table in the same room where exMat Lab’s Mainframe is located. Cyberdeck Upgrade #11: in Arcology Pinnacle
This cyberdeck upgrade is Arcology Pinnacle (Tier: Pinnacle). You’ll reach Arcology Pinnacle during the main mission Syntax Error. The cyberdeck upgrade is kept above the bench, on the eastern edge of Arcology Pinnacle. Check out the images below to see the location of the 11th cyberdeck upgrade.
