The Moon-Bathed Deep is a world quest in Genshin Impact 2.1 which contains multiple subquests. These multiple sub-quests tell about the mythology of Watatsumi island and its people’s origins. This walkthrough demonstrates how to complete the world quest The Moon-Bathed Deep and assist Tsuyoko in performing a ritual to save Watatsumi from turning into desert.
Eye of Watatsumi
Fang of Watatsumi
Fin of Watatsumi
Tail of Watatsumi
Heart of Watatsumi
To get all the subquest you’ll need to speak with Tsuyoko, the Shrine Maiden of the Sangonomiya Shrine. First, teleport to the Statue of the Seven on Watatsumi Island and head up the hill to the West. You’ll see a ruined building and Tsuyoko standing off to the right. Speak with Tsuyoko to learn that Watatsumi Island is turning into a desert. To save the Watatsumi Island a sacred ritual needs to be done between the Sangonomiya and Enkanomiya.
The first part of this quest is to open the path to Enkanomiya, to do this you need to break the five seals on Watatsumi Island. You will automatically get four quests for the Eye, Fang, Fin, and Tail of Watatsumi after speaking with Tsuyoko. On completing these four quests you will get access to the Heart of Watatsumi sub-quest.
Fang of Watatsumi
Go to the “Fang”
As you start the subquest ‘Fang of Watatsumi’, your first goal will be to go to the island where you can break the first seal (out of five) to enter Enkanomiya. Head to the location of the sealed shrine as marked on the map. Beside the shrine a stone slab that read –
“…To provoke battle, to defend, and end them quickly, and thus take unto oneself the spoils – ‘tis the way fo Watatsumi, marked in tooth and claw…”
Protect the Ley Line Monolith
Next, interact with the Ley Line Monolith crystal just down the hill. As you interact with the Ley Line Monolith, a few more purple color Monolith crystal spawns nearby.
Here you’ll need to fight off a few rounds of enemies while also protecting the Monolith. Enemies like Hilichurls, Samechurls, and Samurai will keep on spawning to destroy the Monolith. The basis of the challenge is in lasting the full 5 minutes of combat and protect the Ley Line Monolith. Game screen display Ley Line Monolith’s Remaining HP and Time Remaining in combat.
Obtain the Spirit Pearl
After successfully defending the Ley Line Monolith for five minutes, head back uphill to the sealed shrine to collect Spirit Pearl.

Break the seal over the shrine
Paimon will ask you to use elemental sight as the message on the stone doesn’t have much clue. As per the message on the stone you need to follow the elemental lines to the south, north, and west. You’ll see a floating purple orb that you need to hit while elemental sight is activated. Several enemies may appear that need to neutralize before continuing.
Obtain the Spirit Pearl

Break the “Fin” Seal
Here Paimon will suggest pairing statues of the fish so that they face each other. To break the seal, orient the fish statues such that there is a blue line of the circle below. Activate the pillars to allow the fish statues to start rotating. Once the 3 fish statues are in position, interact with the Mysterious Pillars and then go to the other side and do the same. The fish on both discs do not need to be simultaneously aligned to activate them
Obtain the Spirit Pearl
After aligned fishes and interacting with mysterious pillars on both discs, head back to the sealed shrine of the island to collect Spirit Pearl

The Tail of Watatsumi is part of ‘The Moon-Bathed Deep’ World Quest Series. As you start the subquest ‘Tail of Watatsumi’, your first goal will be to go to the southeastern island in the Watatsumi group of Island. I have marked the location of the island on the map.

“This holy hall contains a divine blessing. Tread lightly and walk slowly, following the lights. Run not, rush never, make no hue or cry, and approach with piety in one heard for our great Omikami’s grace.”
Break the “Tail” Seal
After reading the message, walk down the hill from the shrine to find an Electrogranum tree. Pick up an Electrogranum and head back towards the shrine to ignite every stone pillar on the way up. You will find a total of six such pillars near the shrine.

Open the gate to the “Heart of Watatsumi”
Tsuyuko will ask you to follow her to complete the last task. She’ll lead you towards a location to the east where a water barrier is up. I have marked the location of the island on the map. From the cliff edge drop down to find another platform along the cliff wall.
Go to the “Heart”
Submit all the four Spirit Pearls at a phosphorescent wall and enter inside the cave.
Break the final seal
Inside you’ll find the ‘Heart’ of Watatsumi and more fish statue puzzles like the ones at the Fin of Watatsumi island. The big difference this time is that as you complete them water enemies will spawn.
There are four circular discs with fish statues and a circular stage in the middle. Activate the South, East, and West circles first. Rotate the fish statues so that they face each other that is looking inside the circle. After aligning fish statues, interact with the Mysterious Pillars. Eliminate all the water enemies.

Once all fish puzzles have been completed and all enemies defeated you’ll get a short cutscene and then a prompt to obtain the Key of the Moon-bathed Deep. Speaking with Tsuyoko to end the quest. You’ll earn the achievement of The Same Moonlight.
