The Old Hearts is a special quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong. In this quest, you must find three powerful hearts. Each heart is hidden in a different place and protected by enemies and puzzles. This guide will show you, step by step, how to start the quest and collect all three hearts.
Heart of Might
To obtain the Heart of the Might, you need to defeat the Boss Crust King Khann, who is located inside a secret area in Sand of Karak. To begin your journey to the secret area, first head to the location marked on the map below.
From this location, use the soar ability to get to the top. Then go left and drop down to reach a lake filled with monsters.
Hit the flower bud on the wall above. This will make branches grow out. Jump on the branches to progress to the left side.
Cling to the branch wall and hit other flower buds to make a path and keep progressing to the left side. Keep progressing until you reach the location marked on the map below.
From here, head left and use the Double Jump ability to cross the platforms. Keep going until you reach a gate. Enter it to access a secret area in the Sand of Karak. Refer to the map below.
Once inside, go right to find Crest King Khann sleeping. When you get close, a cutscene will start. After it ends, you will wake up in a new area.
After you wake up, use the Soar ability to jump to the top of the area. You will reach Coral Tower. From there, go left.
At the end of the path, use the Soar ability again to reach the top, then move right. You will reach an open area where you will fight some enemies.
After defeating the enemies, go right until the end. Use the Soar ability to reach the next top platform. Then move left to enter an open area where you will fight more enemies.
After beating the enemies, a new path will open on your left. Go to your left and use the soar ability again to reach the top.
Move to the right and use the soar ability again to reach the next platform on top.
Defeat the flying enemies, move to the left, and use the soar ability again to reach the next platform on top.
Move to the right and defeat the enemies. A new path will open above you on the ceiling.
Use the Soar ability to reach the top platform. Here, you will meet the Boss Crest King Khann.
After you beat the Boss Crest King Khann, you will be sent back to the previous area. Pick up the Encrusted Heart there to get the Heart of the Mights.
Heart of the Woods
To obtain the Heart of the Woods, you need to defeat the Boss Nyleth, who is located inside a secret area in Grand Gate. To begin your journey to the secret area, first head to the location marked on the map below.
From this location, charge to the top using soar ability. Then proceed to the right side path and drop through the opening below. Continue forward through a series of twisted tunnels while avoiding the steam vents. Keep descending until you reach the ground.
You will be at the location, as shown on the map below. Use your Silk Soar ability to fly up and cling to the left wall.
In the middle of the left wall, there’s a weak spot you can break. Break it and go inside and drop down. After you land, cut the vines to move into the next area.
In the next area, look above to see a platform hanging on the left side by a metal chain. Jump up and break the chain to make the platform fall. When it crashes on the floor, a new path will open. Follow the new path to keep moving forward.
In this area with spiky walls, use your Cling Grip ability to stick to the walls and keep moving forward. As you progress, look on the left side to find some vines. Cut them to enter a new area.
In the next area, Pogo Jump on the white flower petals to move to the left. Then move upward toward the top-right side. At the end of the path, cut the vines on the ceiling and jump out of the area.
In the next area, keep going left until you find Shrine Guardian Seth sitting alone. You must defeat him before you can move forward.
After you beat Shrine Guardian Seth, keep going left. You will find a secret entrance that leads to the secret area of Grand Gate.
Inside the secret area, go left until you see a fountain. Use the Needolin ability to make the Hornet fall asleep. After the cutscene, you will wake up in a new place.
Go left and drop down until you reach the bottom. There, you will find Nyleth sleeping. Walk up to Nyleth to start the boss fight.
After you beat the boss Nyleth, you will be sent back to the fountain. Pick up the Pollen Heart there to get the Heart of the Woods.
Heart of the Wild
To obtain the Heart of the Wild, you need to defeat the Boss Scarrsinger Karmelita, who is located in Far Field. To begin your journey to the secret area, first head to the location in Hunter’s March as marked on the map below.
At this spot, you will see a statue. Use the Soar ability to reach the top, then go right to an area with red spikes.
Use Double Jump and Pogo on the rings and red flowers to cross safely.
At the end of the path, hit the lever to open a new area. A drawbridge will lower, letting you cross to the other side.
Keep going right until you reach the Far Field area. From there, drop down the ledges to the ground and keep moving right. Soon you’ll come to a spot where the floor drops down. Check the map to see the location.
Go down the ledges until you reach the bottom. Then start moving to the right. You will find an area with red spikes. Use Double Jump and Pogo on the rings to cross to the other side.
After crossing the area, you will reach the location as shown in the map below.
From the spot marked on the map, go upward and cross the area with red spikes.
Keep going left until you reach some ledges. Jump up the ledges to leave the area.
In the area, move to the right side until you reach a gate. Refer to the map below.
Enter inside, move to the right, where you can speak with Boss Scarrsinger Karmelita. This will trigger a cutscene. After it ends, you will wake up in a new area.
After you wake up, go right and climb the ledges to the top. Then keep moving forward until you reach the end.
At the end, drop down and move to the left to reach Boss Scarrsinger Karmelita’s location
After you beat the Boss Scarrsinger Karmelita, you will be sent back to the previous area. Pick up the Hunter’s Heart there to get the Heart of the Wild.
