FF7 Rebirth: The Saga of the Seaside Inn Side Quest
This guide shows how to complete the The Saga of the Seaside Inn Side Quest in Chapter 7 of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth game, which released on 29th February 2024. You get the quest by talking to Johnny in the Inn at the location shown in the pictures below.
Track Down the Johnnys at the Costa Falls
Go to the waterfall at the location shown in the picture below and talk to Johnny there.
Recover the Refurbishment Materials
You can collect the Refurbishment Materials kept in front of the ziplines as shown in the second picture below. There are a total of 8 ziplines in the area as marked in the picture below. Collect all 8 Refurbishment Materials for the best reward. After you have collected all the Refurbishment Materials, deliver them to Johnny near the waterfall.
Track Down the Johnnys at the Factory Ruins
Go and talk to Johnny in front of the factory as shown in the picture below.
Procure a Chocobo
You can rent a Chocobo by purchasing a Rent Pass at the “Rent-A-Bird Stables” for 300 gils just outside Costa Del Sol. You can also complete the Rendezvous in Costa del Sol Side Quest to get a Chocobo.
Obtain the Transmuter Chip
Once you have a Chocobo, you need to go back to the factory and complete Excavation Intel 1 to get the Transmuter Chip. You can unlock this intel by finishing the first 2 Expedition Intels in the region. The location of the two Expedition Intels is shown in the picture below.
To complete Excavation Intel 1, you will need to dig out the three artifacts in the factory. Mount a Chocobo and search the area for the artifacts. When the “?” symbol appears, use your Chocobo sniff-out and dig the artifact. Artifact #1 is on the right side outside the factory as shown in the picture below. Go inside the factory and then go to the right side to find Artifact #2 as shown in the second picture below. Take the stairs to the upper level to find Artifact #3 as shown in the third picture below.
Deliver the Boiler Valve
Now craft a Boiler valve and give it to Johnny. The materials required to craft the Boiler Valve can be found easily in the Corel Region.
Track Down the Johnny in the Desert
Go to the location shown in the picture below and talk to Johnny there.
Steal and Deliver the Tonberry King’s Crown
To complete this objective, you need to progress in the main story until you reach Chapter 9. Once you are in Chapter 9 and have gained access to the carriage, you will be able to explore the rest of the desert and will be able to complete the objective. Tonberry King can be found in the southeast portion of the desert at the location shown in the picture below. You won’t be able to fight Tonberry King until you have completed all 6 Excavation Intels (Lifesprings) in the region. If you are following this quest, then you would have already completed the first 2 lifesprings. The location of the remaining 4 lifesprings is shown in the second picture below. Once you have completed the 6 lifesprings, you will be able to fight Tonberry King at the marked location.
To get a Pristine Crown from the Tonberry King, which is necessary for perfect odd job completion, equip the Steal Materia on one of your party members. Now start the fight. You will notice the crown on his head. To get it, you first need to pressure him by avoiding his attacks and inflicting damage on him. Do that enough times and the crown will drop off his head. Once the crown falls down, quickly use the steal ability on it to get it. The Tonberry King will try to get his crown back so don’t wait too long to defeat him. If you finish him off with the crown on his head, you will only get the Marred one. Once you have the crown, deliver it to Johnny in the desert.
Report to Johnny
Now go back and report to Johnny in the Inn to complete the quest.
