This guide shows how to complete the world quest “An Introduction to Indoor Archaeology” in the game of Genshin Impact 3.1 update, which was released on 28th September 2022. This is the 2nd quest of the “Golden Slumber” questline.

Go to the Oasis
After exiting the pit with the archeological team, head to the oasis to initiate a cutscene.
Go high up to look for Jabrael
Head to the vantage point to look for Jabrael. Use the wind current to reach the top.
Return to the campsite
After the cutscene heads back to the campsite and speaks with the other archeological team member.
Go to Khemenu Temple
After a night’s rest in the oasis, go to the Khemenu Temple. It is in the northwest direction from the oasis.
Proceed deeper within Khemenu Temple
In the cutscene, you will go head inside the temple and let Benben open up the door. Proceed inside until you find a locked door and archeological team members standing nearby. Here you need to find a way to open the door. Here find two Primal Embers and follow them back to the door to open it up and proceed to the next area.
How to Get the Primal Ember on the Right Door
Go to the door near Jebrael on the right side. Open the door and head down until you reach the room.
Pick the Forged Primal Light to activate the Primal Ember (blue floating orb). Release the Primal Ember.
Follow the Primal Ember like a Seelie until it reaches the Primal Torch near the locked door to light it up.
How to Get the Primal Ember on the Left Door
Go to the door on the right, near Tirzad. Head down until you reach the room.
Defeat the enemy to then release the Primal Ember.
Follow the Primal Ember like a Seelie until it reaches the 2nd Primal Torch near the locked door to light it up.
Explore the lower level of Khemenu Temple
Head to the lower floor and activate a Teleport Waypoint. Continue to explore the area until you trigger another cutscene.
Return to the previous room and look for clues
Go back to the previous room and this time you will find two doors open on the left and right sides.
Try to unlock the rooms located deep within (0/2)
How to Get the Primal Ember on the Left Room
Go to the door where Benben and Jeht are standing. Follow the quest marker until you reach a room with a broken ship.
Climb up the broken ship and flip the Primal Sandglass to show all the Four-Leaf Sigil and get to the Primal Ember quickly.
Follow the Primal Ember until it reaches the Primal Torch in the main room to light it up. This will also start a challenge that you can skip.
How to Get the Primal Ember in the Right Room
Go to the door on the right this time. Follow the quest marker until you reach a room with a ship.
Get the Forged Primal Light floating on top of the ship, near a Dendroculus. Place the Primal Light to activate the Primal Ember.
Follow the Primal Ember until it reaches the Primal Torch in the main room to light it up. Note: You will encounter a strong with that will blow up the Primal Ember. Just wait for the wind to die down.
Ride the elevator
head inside the newly open door and activate the elevator go deep down.
Enter the room located deep within
Follow the corridor deep inside the temple and follow the quest marker. In the end, you will meet all your archeology team members and initiate a cut scene. At this point, the quest will end.
