COD MWZ: How to Unlock New Schematics in Season 2

This guide shows how to get all three new Schematics in Season 2 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. You get new schematics by completing the missions in the new Dark Aether. To unlock the new Dark Aether, first, you will need to find 4 Relics (Gloves, Mirror, Target, Drum). Then you need to turn all the purple relic items into gold. Once you have the 4 Gold Relic items, you will be able to unlock the new Dark Aether. Then go inside the new Dark Aether and complete the missions inside to get New Schematics.

How to get all 4 Relic Items

To get all 4 relics, you need to go into the game menu and select Act 4. Then select Mission 2, Countermeasures, as shown in the pictures below. If the mission is not available, that means you need to complete mission 1 first.

After the mission starts, follow the objective marker and enter the rift as shown in the pictures below. When you go through the rift, you will be in a new area of the Dark Aether that you have not previously explored. The game will guide you through the mission in the area, but you will have to do some other objectives there to get the relics that the game won’t tell you. In this article, I will explain how to get all the relics.

Purple Gloves

Near the spawn point, you will see a ship. Climb to the top of the ship and go to the location shown in the pictures below. At the marked location, you will find an Obelisk as shown in the second picture below. Interact with the obelisk to start a challenge. A circle will spawn around the obelisk and zombies will start attacking you. Melee the zombies to complete the challenge. Then pick up the Purple Gloves from the reward rift.

Purple Target

Go to the intersection as shown in the pictures below to find another Obelisk. Activate the obelisk to start a challenge. Headshot the zombies within the circle to complete the challenge. Then pick up the Purple Target from the reward rift.

Purple Mirror

Go to the southeast portion of the map at the location shown in the pictures below to find the third and final obelisk. This one is difficult to spot as the area is covered with fog. After you start the challenge, a circle will spawn and you will need to defeat the zombies within it with a specific ammo type depending on the circle. For example, if the circle is made of fire, then you will need fire ammo to defeat the zombies. If you do not have the required ammo type, then you can get it by interacting with the metal plate on the obelisk. Once the challenge is complete, pick up the Purple Mirror from the reward rift.

Gold Drum

Progress in the main mission and defeat Krawvir Boss. Once you beat it, a reward rift will spawn with a Golden Drum in it. Make sure to take it.

Turn Purple Relics to Gold

Now you will need to turn the three purple relics (Gloves, Target, mirror) to gold. Start a new game and follow the process explained below.

Gold Gloves

Go to the boxing gym as shown in the picture below. Stand in the boxing ring and interact with it to offer the Unattuned relic. Then switch to Melee and punch the punching bags hanging along the wall. This will set the punching bags on fire. When all the punching bags are set on fire, a zombie will appear inside the boxing ring. Defeat it with Melee to get the golden gloves.

Gold Target

Go to the target range as shown in the pictures below. Interact with the central target as shown in the second picture below to offer the Unattuned relic. This will spawn a bunch of other targets. Shooting the newly spawned target will turn it red. When all the targets have turned red, a red zombie will spawn. You need to headshot this zombie to get the Golden Target.

Gold Mirror

Go to the graveyard and interact with the tombstone to offer the Unattuned relic as shown in the pictures below. This will spawn some zombies with different glows and each of these zombies needs to be defeated with a different ammo type depending on their glow. Climb up the central tower and interact with the metal plate to get different types of ammo. Defeating the zombies will give you the Golden Mirror.

Unlocking the New Dark Aether

Once you have all 4 golden relics, take them to the top of the mountain on the north side of the Tier 3 zone as shown in the pictures below. Place the relics on the four pedestals there based on the picture on the pedestal. Once done, a boss will come out from the portal. Take it down and collect the dropped Sigil. Use the Sigil to enter the new Dark Aether portal. Once opened, you will always have access to this portal. But you will need a Normal Sigil or an Elder Sigil to enter it. Sigils can be found through doing Tier 3 contracts and Elder Sigils can be found through contracts in the Dark Aether. You can get the New Schematic in the Dark Aether only by using Elder Sigils. So, the first time you go to the new Dark Aether, complete the missions to get Elder Sigil. Then go back again using the Elder Sigil and complete the missions for a chance to get new schematics.

Unlock new Schematics

Once you have unlocked the new Dark Aether portal, you will always have access to this portal. But you will need a Normal Sigil or an Elder Sigil to enter it. Sigils can be found through doing Tier 3 contracts and Elder Sigils can be found through contracts in the Dark Aether. You can get the New Schematic in the Dark Aether only by using Elder Sigils. So, the first time you go to the new Dark Aether, complete the missions to get Elder Sigil. Then go back again from the red side of the portal using the Elder Sigil and complete the missions for a chance to get new schematics. In the article below, I will explain the location of all missions that you need to complete to get new schematics and how to exit the new Dark Aether.

Mission 1

The first mission bunny is on top of the building as shown in the pictures below. Interact with the bunny to start the mission. Then disable all extractors in the area to complete the mission.

Mission 2

This mission bunny is inside the building as shown in the pictures below. Interacting with the bunny starts the bounty-hunting mission. If you entered the portal from the red side using an Elder Sigil, then you might get a new schematic.

Mission 3

The third mission bunny is on top of the building as shown in the pictures below. Interact with the bunny to start the mission. Locate and activate the PND to complete the mission. If you entered the portal from the red side using an Elder Sigil, then you might get a new schematic.

Exit the Dark Aether

Go to the portal at the north side as shown in the pictures below to exit the Dark Aether. You will get elder sigils here for completing the missions.
