Starting Location
This quest is only available when you’ve reached Bakbattahl. To begin the quest, head to the West Vernworth Oxcart Station in Vernworth and listen to two NPCs talking about the oxcart. The quest starts automatically after that.
Investigate the phantom Oxcart
At night, take the northeast route out of the city. To find the Oxcart, go to the marked position at the crossroads. Get close to it to view a cutscene.
Question the soldier
When you approach the soldier, he will start running away. Chase and grab him. Speak with him, then either accept his gold 5000 G to let him go or escort him to Vermund.
Accept his offer to receive 5000 G and the Merchant’s Document.
Find out who is behind the phantom Oxcart
Talk to Brant at The Stardrop Inn about Phantom Oxcart. He will suggest that you pursue the Oxcart or ride it as a pawn to know the truth about it.
Pursue the Oxcart
Go back to the same spot at night time. Disguise yourself as a pawn by removing all of your armor, rings, and weapons. Speak with the driver to get onto the Oxcart.
While riding the cart will be attacked by fiends. Simply stand while other pawns defeat them.
In the morning, the cart will stop again at the border. Take the beating from the guard without retaliating.
Gather evidence and report to Captain Brant
Next, the cart will stop at a giant stone gate. Immediately equip your weapon and attack the guard. Defeat them to receive Labor Requisition Orders. Return to Vernworth and talk with Brant to finish the quest.
