How To Get Messmer’s Kindling
Messmer’s Kindling is dropped by the Boss – Messmer the Impaler. Messmer the Impaler is the final boss of the Shadow Keep Legacy Dungeon and the featured boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. He can be found at the very top of the Shadow Keep near the Dark Chamber Entrance Site of Grace.

To start, fight the Golden Hippopotamus Boss. It is the first enemy you encounter in Shadow Keep. Then, reach the Storehouse First Floor Site of Grace. Continue upwards to the Storehouse Fourth Floor Site of Grace, and then make your way to the Storehouse Seventh Floor Site of Grace.
Finally, reach the very top of the Shadow Keep near the Dark Chamber Entrance Site of Grace. Defeat the Boss – Messmer the Impaler to obtain Messmer’s Kindling.
How to use Messmer’s Kindling in Elden Ring
Alert: Keep in mind that after using “Messmer’s Kindling” there is no point returning in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. It will lock you out of all NPC questlines.

The item description of Messmer’s Kindling states that it has the power to burn the Sealing Tree found within the Old Rauh ruins.
To use Messmer’s Kindling, you can continue progressing through the story until you defeat Romina, Saint of the Bud. This unmissable boss in Shadow of the Erdtree is located at the Church of the Bud.
After defeating her, move forward to find the Sealing Tree and interact with it to burn it.
