Subquests are optional missions that you get by talking to NPCs in Monster Hunter Stories 2 Wings of Ruin. People in need will ask you for help in form of Subquests. these are a great way to earn extra items, experience points, and zenny. You get the ‘X Marks The Spot’ subquest at a later stage in the game after you have reached Kuan Village in Loloska.
X Marks The Spot Subquest
You get the ‘X Marks The Spot’ subquest by talking to ‘Relaxed Man’ sitting on a bench at the southwestern portion of Kuan Village. He will ask you to search for the lost Pirate Treasure at the Pirate Beach and bring it to him. Find the Pirate’s Beach
Pirate Beach is near Sailor’s Beach fast travel point (See Picture Below). If you didn’t unlock the fast travel point before then you will have to travel there through the ‘East Etulla Forest’ exit in Alcala. You will find a treasure map inside a bottle at the beach at the location as shown in the picture below. The map reads: “In a beautiful place where water forever pours from up high, is where I left my treasure to silently lie.” Navirou will say that the clue might be referring to a waterfall.
Find Sky Halved by Water
The clue you got at the pirate’s beach points to the waterfall at North Kamuna Cape at the location as shown in the picture below. On the right side of the waterfall, you will find an engraving on a rock. The engraving reads, “The roaring waterfall disturbs my treasure’s sleep. A place of life within the sands of death will be its new keep. Soaking up the day’s sunshine to release into the night, its ethereal beauty will be a marvelous sight”. Navirou will suggest that the clue might refer to a desert area and you have to look there at night.
Find a Place of Life in Sands of Death
The clue near the waterfall refers to the Oasis at West Lamure Desert at the location as shown in the picture below. You will find a shiny object near the rocks at the oasis. The shiny object is a mirror with something written at the back. The backside of the mirror reads, “A memento of my beloved late wife. It shines in the night as her radiance did in my life. No treasure I ever owned was more dear. Take it now, treasure hunter, and keep it near.” This is the pirate treasure you were looking for.
Once you have the treasure, go back to Kuan Village and report back to the ‘Relaxed Man’ to complete the subquest and receive the reward.
